Val-Dieu Triple is the result of a long fermentation, scrupulously followed by the brewmaster. Its deep yet soft bitterness does not interfer with the discovery of its components. The taste of the hop comes through, naturally aromatized, accompanied by an alcoholic after taste. It can be associated with refined dishes and ranks among the great beers. It may be found in the some of the most exclusive restaurants.

Ingredients: Pilsen malt, Saaz and Spalter hops, sugar, live yeast, natural water from the region.

Visual: Pours pale light golden orange without a significant head, spotty layer of ultra micro bubbles, spread out steady micro clusters of activity. Nose: honey barley malt, tangerine undertones. (lvl-)-pungency Attack: Crisp-micro creamy, thicker smooth mouthfeel Mid-palate: background orange citrusy tangy alcohol mixed with dense (lvl-7-sweetness), honey-sweet, light toasty barley malt Finish: subtle alcoholic heat, tingly residual honey barley malt, very subtle hops. Summary: A solid tripel with excellent balance – not too heavy or harsh, good sweetness and that characteristic honey-floral-candi sugar barley malt flavour.

330ml bottle @ Radisson Blu Palace Hotel, Spa, Belgium. Pours hazy gold with good off-white head. Aroma is sweet triple yeast. Taste is a nicely balanced tripel with a good vanilla icing sweetness. Really quite a lovely triple.

Triple assez banale. Couleur classique pour un triple. Carbonatation importante. Du houblon, de l’acidité bien équilibrée. Les goût sont un peu trop courts en bouche. Tout est assez banale sans être mauvais.

Bière blonde peu acide qui cogne bien (9 degrés tout de même !). Bue dans une tulipe en grès, je n’ai pas pu apprécier la blondeur de la robe. Goût de miel?

330ml bottle. Murky, orangey golden colour with average, fluffy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Sweet-ish grainy-biscuity-bready malty and fruity aroma, notes of apricot, peach, mirabelle, cautious hints of grassy hop. Taste is peppery spicy yeasty, fruity and minimally alcoholic, notes of apricot, peach and mirabelle, slightly sugary, grainy and biscuity malty sweetness that barely isn’t unduly obtrusive due to the decent bitter hoppy counterbalance. Turns a bit phenolic while warming up.

Light orange, almost transparent, head dissipates quite quickly. The aroma is dominated by sugar, with notes of esters and a slight spiciness. Taste follows the aroma, again dominated by sugary sweetness. Notes of pear may be detected. Finish has a slight bitter hint. Alcohol is noticeable and does not feel very well integrated. Full body, slightly chewy. Not bad, but way too much focused on sugar. Mediocre

From tap at Dikkenek Café, Lyon. Clear golden color with white to off white head. Malty and light hoppy aroma, caramel, citrusy fruity, grassy, light spicy. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Pullo @ Saveur-Biere. Kaatuu tulppaaniin kullankeltaisena ja sameahkona, runsaalla noin kahden sormen paksuisella vaahdolla. Ilman hiivoja vahvin aromi on belgihiivainen mausteisuus ja sitrushedelmä, hiivojen kanssa painottuu mausteisuus. Hiivojen kanssa hedelmääkin on, mutta heikommin. VIljaista mallastakin on runsaasti ja tuoksu on hyvin tasapainoinen. Maku on niin ikään monipuolinen, hedelmäisyyttä (paikoin kirpsakkaakin), mausteita, vahvaa viljaista mallasta ja hienostunut alkoholin tuoma lämmittävä vivahde. Nyt ymmärrän todella, mitä tarkoitetaan, kun sanotaan, että alkoholin kuuluukin maistua hieman tripelissä. Suutuntuma on täyteläinen ja runsas, alkoholi tuo lievää lämmittävyyttä. Hieno tripel, jossa on sekä hedelmää että mausteisuutta. Malliesimerkki tyylistä.

Bue en bouteille de 33cl. Triple belge classique, tout à fait non surprenante. Gros hit d’alcool, malt. Peu d’intérêt.
