COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Val-Dieu Triple is the result of a long fermentation, scrupulously followed by the brewmaster. Its deep yet soft bitterness does not interfer with the discovery of its components. The taste of the hop comes through, naturally aromatized, accompanied by an alcoholic after taste. It can be associated with refined dishes and ranks among the great beers. It may be found in the some of the most exclusive restaurants.

Ingredients: Pilsen malt, Saaz and Spalter hops, sugar, live yeast, natural water from the region.

330 ml bottle, bb 12.05.2017. Pours a hazy dark golden with a white head. The aroma is medium malty with honey, some caramel, spices (nutmeg) and lightly yeasty. Full body with an average carbonation, a medium to heavy sweetness and a light bitterness. Some noticeable alcohol. The aroma is malty (honey, sugar) again with spices (cloves, cinnamon), some fruits - ripe apples and pears, prunes - and light, herbal notes of hops.

Amber. Fruity, spicy and yeasty aroma. Yeasty and spicy flavour, and a strong, pungent and moderately sweet taste that finishes dry, lightly bitter and somewhat boozy. Medium body, high prickly carbonation, and a soft mouthfeel. Overall, a good tripel. Powerful, but a little too yeasty and boozy.

Bottle from the abbey. Hazy gold, big head. Sweet butterscotch aroma. Strong mineral water base, sweet boozy malt taste. Complex honey crackers, stone mineral water and delightful booziness. Really enjoyable.

Misty deep orange, full cap of white foam, recedes slowly, leaves a lot of sticky lacing. White pepper and underripe apricot on the nose. Some honeyed grain, freshly sliced green apple, spicy pear. The taste follows the nose for a second, then it brings some harsh notes to the mix, like alcohol and nail polish. A bit too much, even for the style, and the sweet, grainy/bready maltiness isn’t helping. Hints of pear jam, apple mash, green banana, soft peppery spices and a bit of grassy hop in the finish. The aftertaste has residual sugars, booze and some apple peel. Medium to heavy body, prickly carbonation. It’s quite clumsy, sweet and boozy, with some hot alcohol and some fermenting issues. If they were intented, i guess i can go on a personal note and just say it’s a bit too "crude" for me.
