750 ml swing/flip top bottle shared by my father and brother @ my brothers house. December 24, 2013. Beer from a wine glass. Bottle bought @ Beitostlen by my brother. Black in color with a beige head and medium carbonation. Aroma is spices, roasted malt, hop and a bit yeast and tar. Tastes a bit spices, hop and bitterness. A bit weak in taste with a ok bitter finish. Beer was ok with fat porksteak and Aquavit.

Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours clear dark golden with a small white head. Aroma is malty and light spicy. Taste is light sweet malty, with an unpleasant metallic aftertaste. Far from good.

Bottle, 75cl, at Cardinal. Its a hazy, reddish beer topped by a small, beige head. The aroma is lighlty sourish, with cardamom, cloves, caramel and some roasted notes and sweetness. Its lightly sweet on the palate, more or less full-bodied, lightly tart and with some sourness. Cardamom, cloves, roasted malts, some bitterness and caramel too. Roasted malts, caramel and spices in the end. Even though its lightly sourish and a few months past BB-date, I like it. Thats highly unusual for Valdres beers. 121022

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2012 Fra flaske p Cardinaltreff des-11 (gml. notater): kortvarig skum.

Bottle from Fenaknoken enjoyed at home
Pours dark redly brown with a tanned head. Smells of spice, yeast, caramel, dark fruits and malts. Taste is medium malty, medium sweetness and some nice fruityness. Here i also find some juniper. Medium bodied, soft to flat carbonation. Light light bitter finish, this not a bitter beer. There are some mild hops in the background

Shared bottle a Cardinal. Pours a hazy orange body with a short lived tan colored head that disappates into a film. Sweat, dried fruit, corn and grains on the nose. Spicy, sweet, bitter and fruity flavors. Light to medium body. Watery mouthfeel. Light dry tongue at the end.

750 ml swingtop bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Despite the name, this is not a stout by any stretch of the mind, but a "Christmas spiced" version of their ordinary Staut, which is listed at RateBeer as a brown ale (English session style porter might be more appropriate). Dark brown colour, moderate off-white head. Moderate aroma of malts and Christmas spices, hints of liquorice. Smooth and soft flavour and mouthfeel - malts, caramel and Christmas spices (incl. cinnamon).

Flaske 0,75l. Spandert av Rune p romjuls-sammenkomst 28.12.10. Mrk brun p farge. Lavt skum. Sterk aroma: Fersken p boks / mango. Smak av banan. Uvanlig. Gjennomfrt fruktig preg. Kan det vre einerlgen? Bra l men ingen typisk stout.

Bottle form Meny Grnland. Junipher, nutmeg, cinnamon. Herbal bitterness, yeasty palate. a More robust beer base would have tackled the junipher twigs more - but this is probably very true to style. Traditional ale style, that is.
