3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Sheep’s Heid Inn in Edinburgh. Really liked this one a lot, one of the best British ales I’ve tried. No head to speak of. Smells more bitter than it tastes if such a thing is possible, so brown sugar nutty sweetness comes as a pleasant surprise.
(bottle) slightly opalescent deep golden colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of resin and bran flakes, with some notes of marzipan, floral hops and yeast. flavour is herbal hops and more bran flakes, with lots of caramelized malts, some manure and yeasty sugar-icing finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation. Bottle at home. Pours clear golden amber, sweet, light malty spicy and fruity. joetownpunk (3) - - FEB 15, 2014 does not count
500ml bottle, golden ale. Unusual taste but very drinkable. Would be great for a warm summer’s evening. allmyvinyl (10624) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 7, 2014
500ml bottle from Alesela. Pours clear golden amber, thin short-lived head. Sweet aromas, mostly honey, caramel. A very faint floral hop note. Something odd that isn’t quite metallic. Sharp though, perhaps acidic. Taste has more of this sharp bitterness. Didn’t enjoy it much. mr_h (5552) - Ayr, SCOTLAND - OCT 5, 2013
500ml bottle from Aldi (presumed pasteurised) - clear deep golden, thin bubbly white head, malty, honey, caramel aroma, highly carbonated, herbal, bitter flavour

500ml bottle shared with mr_h. Amber brown, good foamy head. Resin grain malt aroma. Sickly sweet toffee malt flavour. Sour aftertaste. Not a good beer. davensteve (12) - Kent, ENGLAND - JUN 30, 2013
Bitter after taste with nice complex flavours. Well rounded and finished beer. A little too light possibly AshtonMcCobb (6612) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 19, 2013
50cl bottle. Pours a caramel colour with no head to speak of. The nose has honey and malt and then caramel on the end. More of the same on the taste. The palate is light to medium bodied and textured with a clean finish. A solid bitter. Theydon_Bois (19537) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 7, 2012
Gravity dispense at Ascot Racecourse Beer Festival 2012 - 06/10/12.
Clear golden with a thin bubbly off white head.
Pale malts on the nose, light hop tones and a little citrus.
Taste follows, a little caramel.
Medium bodied with a bitter finish.
Boring. BeerCast_Rich (1906) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 25, 2011
[cask at the Stockbridge Tap, Edinburgh] Poured almost totally flat – which was a surprise. Slightly hazy deep golden ale, aromas of biscuit malt and musty, funky strangeness. A pretty decent malty bitter on the taste, even if it did smell like a football stadium toilets
