Sjolmet Stout: The Sjolmet was a breed of Shetland cattle that had a strong dark body and light coloured head. The breed has died out, but the name lives on in the latest ale to be launched by Valhalla, a full bodied stout (with a strong dark body and light coloured head!) with an ABV of 5.0%.

Tap, brown pour, white head, nose and taste are both lots and lots of coffee

allmyvinyl (11019) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 7, 2014
500ml bottle from Alesela. Clear dark reddish brown with a minimal white head. Aromas of chocolate and light coffee notes. Taste has light bitterness, dark chocolate sweetness. Slightly thin texture, but just about creamy enough. Best I’ve had from here.

2.2
JohnRMurdoch (5049) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - JAN 26, 2014
500ml bottle from The Good Spirits. Co. Almost black, reasonable head. Sour grassy malt aroma. Sweet treacle tar flavour. Sour grassy aftertaste. Not my sort of beer.

Theydon_Bois (20621) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 4, 2013
Bottle, from Tomlinsons, on the train from Inverness to Hereford 21/10/13. Dark chestnut brown with a good sized beige head. Nose is dark toffee fudge, vanilla, bready malts, cake mix. Taste comprises light roast, mineral notes, earthy, dark fruit tang. Medium bodie, fine carbonation, tangy fruit in the finish. Ok if a little strange for a stout, carries a hybrid profile in terms of an ESB/Stout cross.

3.6

Cask by handpump at Pot Still, Glasgow - clear dark reddish brown, good creamy beige head, roasted malty aroma with a bit of berries, nice film of lacing, malty red berry flavour, very sweet for a stout, fruity finish
