Saison. Common Sense series.

Our Story
The hot blazing sun beats down upon the farmers, the tillers of the earth. The struggle of the winter months has passed and the spring is bringing with it new life. But while the winter hardships are over the real work is just beginning. When the farmers could stand the sweltering heat no longer they would quench their thirst with a draught of a saison. A style made unique to each farmhouse, the saison, meaning season, was, and to some extent still is, the beer of the laborer.

Our Fields Ablaze Saison recalls this simple but hard life where a man had to carve his livelihood from the land. Let this beer be a symbol of those summer days in the bright fields; fields ablaze with light and life.

Tasting Notes
This wonderful summer ale is both easy to drink and very refreshing! While most Saisons lean to the funky side of flavor and mouthfeel, our Fields Ablaze has a lightness and a cleanliness not seen very often. There is a bouquet of light tartness with lemon and a floral yet spicy aroma. A clean malt character thrives with the addition of our own lemongrass and Seckal pear tea, stewed right here in the brewery. The flavor is simple yet elegant with light malt sweetness and a slight grainy texture. The subtle finish will keep you coming back for more as a low bitterness allows for the crisp, clean finish that will rejuvenate both body and mind.

Seasonal: March-August.

Bottle from Bottleworks.

Typical but not very interesting American Saison. Just a touch tart, but definitely far from sour. Estery. Drinkable.

In the glass it is a honey amber color with a medium head. You pick up fruit and spice in the nose. Taste has more fruit with a mild bitterness. There are also some yeast flavors. Mild finish.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2015 Bomber from Total Wine in Huntington Beach. 6.0% ABV. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is lemon and mild earth plus other stuff. Med body with very creamy carbonation. Flavor is fruit/herb, and it seems earthy. Rather different, but recognizably a saison.

I had this on tap at Valiant Brewing in Orange, CA. This pour has a nice spiciness to it and is a good beer on a hot day.

Orange and hay aromas from a very hazy light orange/yellow body. Orange and lemon flavors (I think although the waitress accidently put a lemon wedge in it). Some coriander and light white pepper spice, but there?s an overiding sweetness that detracts from the saison flavor. Good hay/barnyard taste though. Good saison overall.

7 June 2013, tap at the brewery. Yellow, slightly hazy. Nose is definitely saison: cobwebs and dry straw. Thin/med body and faintly fizzy. Almost has a bit of a creamy texture. Some lemon, straw, faint yeast notes, slightly sweet. Perhaps my favorite saison, but that's likely because it isn't a typical saison in body or flavor n ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy yellow pour with a white. Lemon zest, yeast, mild pepper, banana, and a nice bread sweetness. Slight tartness, strong coriander, and some grass. Sweet bread and malt flavor. Some biscuit, banana, coriander, and yeast. Nice lemon zest and pepper on the finish.
