COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark Belgian Pale Ale. Common Sense series.
Octave has an aroma of fresh herbs, a bit of caramel sweetness, and sweet dark berries. This is followed by flavors of toffee as well as a bready taste and earthiness. There is a sustainable bitterness, after all it is a pale! The finish is clear with an appropriate lingering body. All in all quite enjoyable! 18.27SRM

7 June 2013, tap at the brewery. Copper, clear, no bubbles. Nose is dried herbs, sawdust, some red fruit maybe. Thin body and moderately fizzy. Earthy, sawdust, some sweet berries (I can't place). Meh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A dark Belgian pale ale? Okay... Anyway, brownish murky pour with no head. Smells roasty, peppery, and bready. Mild sweetness, maybe a touch of yeast, some grass, and perhaps hints of fruit. Very bitter flavor. Roast, toast, and pepper. Grassy, astringent, and some pepper and spice. Meh.
