Courtesy aspidites. Clear amber/brown. Huge oak in this one- toasted earth, charred oak, rich malt, dried dark fruits, subtle spice from the yeast, and a bit of brandy alcohol on the end. Full body, just smoother than balanced, which works well with the flavors. Awesome brew.

Draft. Rich amber beer with an off-white/light tan head. Caramel aroma with a bit of sweetness and some dark fruit. Brown sugar flavor with brandy, oak, and light fruitiness. Richer bodied. Lingering caramel and brandy.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2008 22oz bottle thanks to steve!...... pours a lifeless opaque reddish brown with virtually no head and barely any wisps whatsoever. thin bubbles formed around the edges with nothing more that that. devon’s glass was the only one that had any head..... aroma of sweet brandy caramel and toffee..... flavors had an assertive warm, sweet brandy component with very little of the quad shining through. somewhat thin mouthfeel and also could have used a little more carbonation. sweet finish.

rerate based on trying some of jason’t bottle. this one had significantly more carbonation which made the palatte a whole lot better. smooth rich and decadent caramel, brandy, and sweet sticky flavors.

Bottle at the brewery. Pours a hazy brown with a small off-white head. Sweet with malty aromas of caramel and rye. Also aromas of dates, port and cask wood. Some bready notes. Rugbrød. Light alcohol notes. Full bodied. Some residual sugars in the finish. Thanks!

Huge thanks to Degarth for sharing this truly rare treat.

Pours hazy brown with thin off white head. It has a simply huge creamy – chewy – delicious – inviting aroma. Wow! I get sweet rich molasses, moderate wood notes, sweet dark fruitiness, some red wine and some understandable alcohol presence consider the massive ABV. I get a thick initial mouth feel ushering notes of dates, figs, prunes and sweet raisins that moves into wood and mild sweet booziness. It then becomes more and more whiskey infused as the taste progresses. It runs toward the finish with unbridled joy carrying tasty rich malt sweetness mixed with sweet dark dark fruitiness. Just plain old YUM!!

Bottle courtesy Degarth. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a small short lived off-white head. Aroma is heavy alcohol that stings the nostrils, spicy yeast, dark fruit, caramel, and a hint of oak. Taste is tart dark fruit, spicy yeast, alcohol, with hints of oak and caramel. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and very smooth alcohol. Very good.
