Tried at the VBC pub/restaurant. Quite a tasty after work treat that I wasn’t expecting (thanks Steve). Aroma is bubblegum, chocolate, sugar and some raisins and plums come out as it warmed up. I’m sure the aroma would have gotten better as it warmed, but I didn’t have the time to let it get to proper temp. Appearancew was a deep dark brown, nice head retention with a creamy kick to the palate. Flavors were definitely malty, some tropical fruit notes come out on the finish. Overall, an excellent beer that was easy to drink. Very enjoyable. aspidites (1271) - manteca, California, USA - OCT 9, 2006
Extremely complex yet soft brew. Very reminiscent of Aventinus which I consider the benchmark for style. Dark fruit forward with notes of Black Currant, Raisins, Plums and Merlot. Good spice followthru on a very good round palate.
