Sample at Stone Brewing; i don’t really remember other than what alexanderj wrote down. I thought it was sugary but roasted; as well as being grassy and yeasty. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - SEP 8, 2008
Sample at Stone Brewing; caramel and red in color. Fruity and caramel aroma with some cocoa. Flavor was like that of a solid barleywine; caramel and fruit predominantly. A bit of hopping. Golubj liked it a bit more than me giving it a 3.7; he thought it was sugary but roasted; as well as being grassy and yeasty. masonjer (609) - Holt, Michigan, USA - SEP 8, 2008
On tap at Stone World Bistro. Poured a cloudy dark brown color. Aroma was big malt, brown sugar and caramel. Flavor was much the same, kind of straightforward and one dimensional. Some dark fruit and raisin in there as well. doubleo (1432) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 5, 2008
On-tap at Stone. Pours cloudy, red/brown with a thin offwhite head. Smells malty caramelly and sweet. Tastes the same but with a little hop spiciness throughout. A touch of dishtowel. Full body, somewhat fizzy carbonation. Lagunitasfan (1323) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 29, 2008
On tap at Stone Brewing today. What a great beer! A deep dark molasses smell, with a color to match. No head at all. Great deep brown color. Sweet pruny flavor, with a solid bitter back up. Nice brew.

RBSG ’08: Poured a hazed dark amber color with an off-white head. Toffee and milk chocolate aroma. The flavor was of roasted malt and chocolate. Mild warmth. Smooth mouthfeel with a light carbonation. yespr (47545) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - AUG 6, 2008
Growler, thanks aspidites. Pours dark brown to black with a lacing tan head. Smooth and slight spiced yeasty aroma. Spiced flavour and light malty too. Ends spiced and slight yeasty. Dry and malty with a light spiced malty base. decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - JUL 15, 2008
btl opened by Beerguy101. Lite brown pour with light haze. Light roasted malt aroma and brown sugar. Light bitter, roasted malt and brown sugar flavor as well. Slightly fizzed on a medium body. Very solid no flaws to call out just solid. heemer77 (5360) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUN 8, 2008
Noogfest ’08, thanks beerguy101. The body was ruddy light brown. The aroma was sweet pancakes and caramel. The taste was sweet pancakes and caramel. There was also a little bit of burned character, but it wasn’t too distracting. HopheadHans (804) - Bay Area, California, USA - JUN 8, 2008
Tap at pub. A wonderful example of the barley wine or old ale style. Pours with a ncie copper color with a samllish head. Great aromas of wood, leather and tobacco smoke, like siting in an old English pub. Alcohol is more prominent on the palate, together with caramel and more woodsiness. Very nice.
