Russian Imperial Stout: Imperial Stouts derive their name from the Imperial court of Katherine the Great who commissioned this beer style to be brewed by Thrales brewery in London, England for export to Russia. Our Imperial Stout lives up to that, and then some; with copious amounts of dark roasted malts that translate into a wonderfully rich and complex beer with notes of ripe dark fruit, black currant, cocoa, and black licorice. Enjoy a snifter of this luxurious beverage after dinner with a fine cigar or your favorite chocolate dessert. If youre feeling adventurous, try it with a nice wedge of your stinkiest blue cheese and a plate of fresh raw oysters, you wont be disappointed. Approximately 9.5% ABV.

A truly pitch black stout covered by a short-lasting dark tan cover. Oily, strongly roasty, chocolate chip cookies and fruity impy. I love how it unveils more and more dark fruits as it warms up: from blackberries to blue grapes, to strawberries all the while a strong anise component keeps up. Its a more aromatic than most example, though its also smaller than average, reflecting Altimaris preference for balance in its normal lineup. So think various dark fuits and slightly burnt chocolate chips cookies touched with anise and youll be close enough. Solid, but not particularly distinguishable.
