UPDATED: APR 16, 2017 Bottle from Bierhandel Willems En Zoon. Date is 2013 version. Pours opaque very dark brown with a tan foam head which dissipates to almost nothing. Some mad fucker has listed this as an Imperial Stout. Its not, its a Belgian Strong Ale or a Quad. No roasted malt or stout character at all. Nose is fruity, prune, raisin, plum, Christmas cake, candy sugar, caramel, floral yeast. Taste is candy sugar, caramel, prune, raisin, sultana, Christmas cake, slight hop bitterness and prickle, red wine vinous. Very nice.

@ Brussels, Belgium Beer Trip.

2014 version. Aroma has some nice barrel notes, dark malts and some tart cherries. Taste is balanced, you get the wine and barrel notes. Alcohol is well hidden. Overall its a really well made and enjoyable beer.

Bottle shared on Level 42 14/03/2017. Huge thanks to Kenny for this. A dark brown amber coloured pour with a loose dirty tan head. Aroma is sour granny Smith tangy apple, Cuvee, sour red brown, hint of vinegar. Flavour is composed of woody, stale, mouldy brown bread, apple, granny smith, mouldy. Palate is semi sweet, mouldy, Cuvee. Nice funk..

March 2017 - Bottle share at One Canada Square. Big thanks to Kenny. As Van Den Bossche Buffalo Grand Cru (Barrel Aged Pauillac), 9%, 2014 vintage. Dark brown, almost opaque black, bubbly beige-brown head. Aroma is not as expected gueuzey apple cider, bretty, woody. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is smooth and rounded, green grape, biscuity malts and then woody and earthy notes, tangy minerally fruits with a gueuze-like tangy acidity. Not sure whats going on here and if all is as intended, but I thought it was great. I generally dislike sour imperial stouts but this was impressive. Unique and complex. (4.1)

Leightons 20K at his posh new gaff! Hazy amber beer, big fluffy pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry and has reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth and mellow dark malts. Lots of dark malt tang. Mild spice. Nice dessert wine fruits getting sourish. Airy finish. Two weeks later the same bottle tasted quite gueuzy!

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2017 Bottle at @42. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The aroma is soft, sweet, fruity, tangy, juicy, fruit compote, Victoria sponge, candy, jammy action and candy. The taste is slick sweet, juicy, tangy, fruit compote, tangy, vinous, grape skin, sugary, boosty alcohol, slick, jam and candy with a dry, tangy finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Slick, tart and tangy. Pretty filthy and flavoursome.

On tap @ Kulminator. The 2014 version, in a tall tullapy vase Buffalo glass, of course. Looks reallgood. A denseish beige big lasting and lacing head over a dark deep cola brown body. A nice woody sourish aroma initially. Some tones of butter also unfortunately. Dark dried fruit and a little lingon berries. Like it, despite that slightly off butter tone. Its near flat, only soft prickling on the carbonation and it feels nice oily in the mouth. Tastes quite nice. Woody and lots of dried dark fruits. Licorice and something almost herbal in the back. Chocolate brownie. It just works perfectly with the fiddle playing music here at Kulminator. Nice. 09.03.2017

Draft at Kulminator. Black color, small tan head. Nice vinous and roasty aroma. Taste is dark roast, red wine in an interesting combo that works pretty well.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Kenny. Pours red-brown with a creamy, off-white head. Ripe berries in the nose, some bread, toffee. Medium sweet flavour, with some lightly toasted bread, berries, jam. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, with some jammy berries, brown bread. Actually pretty great stuff.
