Brews up to april 2017 are brewed by Troost. Later samples are brewed on location

PeatyPete (1085) - NETHERLANDS - AUG 12, 2017
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2017 Black colour with mocca-coulered head. Aroma fruity, malty and a bit soy sauce. Taste roasted malt and dark chocolate.

DijkBier (446) - AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - JUL 26, 2017
Very dark, near black opaque pour, with a small creamy light-brown head, Aroma is surprisingly weak; some roasted malts, but also something sweet, vanilla (don’t understand the people rating hops - I don’t get that at all). Taste it under medium sweet and light to medium bitter, but with a long bitter aftertaste. The beer disappoints me; it’s OK but has rather little specs to taste or smell.

Tap. Pours clear black, small beige head, a bit of lacing. Aroma is burnt, roasted malt, tobacco, molasses. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, burnt notes, coffee grounds. Medium body

ShivanDragon (4205) - Leeuwarden, NETHERLANDS - JUN 16, 2017

goozen (4081) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - JUN 5, 2017
Tap at Noord-Hollands bierfestival ’17, Alkmaar: Opaque black colored brew with an dry bitter taste, hints of roasted malts, coffee and some chocolate. Third incarnation of this beer what I think, its seems that this brand always find an way to make an come back.

blackisle (2637) - Amsterdam IJburg, NETHERLANDS - JUN 4, 2017

Tap at the brewpub. Very dark brown with beige head. Some dark chocolate, lots of grassy hops, touch of lime, old chocolate pralines, light coffee. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied. Quite hoppy and nice.

caesar (7165) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 21, 2017
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2017 Rerate: Tap @ Poesiat & Kater, 15 cl sample. Dark brown color, medium frothy head. Aroma of roasty malts, dark choc and bit licorice. Smooth roasty bitterness, bit creamy choc, slight mocha sweetness. All very nicely balanced and very flavorful. What a difference tap vs bottle can make here. Bottle @ Jopen Proeflokaal during Roels book presentation, 10 cl sample. Black label mentioning Poesiat & Kater. Dark brown color, short frothy head. Aroma of roast and dark bread, bit licorice and earthy bitterness. Bit light in flavor, some roast, earthy bitterness. Could use more body or creaminess. Decent beer though. 3.3

Ferris (15901) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 17, 2017
Draft - Hoppy dark roast. Jet black with a rich light brown head. Molasses and dark malts with a hoppy bitterness. Ok.
