If you’ve got the sun overhead and your feet in the sand while you wander the local tide lines, you’ve most likely reached that zen-like state Islanders call Beachcombing. Here’s to one of Vancouver Island’s favourite local pastimes! Beachcomber Summer Ale is an unfiltered ale styled after a German weissbier. Pouring a glowing, golden yellow, this ale combines mellow aromatic notes of citrus and tropical fruit. These flavours combine to create a thirst quenching, clean beer perfect for those warm summer days

Pours cloudy and golden with good carbonation. Head retains. Aroma is grassy and citrusy with a bit of banana. First sip has lots of carbonation and fizz. Tastes a little watery. Hints of citrus fruit. No clove no banana. After taste is does not linger on teh tongue. Nice light summer beer. Not very complex.

On tap St. Augustine’s, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out sweet cereal malts, bready notes and straw. Flavour is along the same lines, with cereal malt upfront and minerally notes on the finish. Light sweetness that is welcome. Bland and boring, but clean.

brokensail (16678) - Dublin, California, USA - AUG 31, 2014
On tap @ Tap & Barrel - Olympic Village. Hazy golden pour with white foam. Not a bad nose, just sort of understated. Decent banana and clove notes. Some bread and dough...mild yeast. Flavor is a touch on the creamy side. Some banana bread and mild spice. Maybe a hint of bubblegum. Nice doughy, wheat bread. Good enough for a summer beer.

The Great BrewDad Victoria Pub Crawl 2014 - Tasty Hefe good wheat flavors and finish. I was impressed.

pictoman (1232) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 25, 2014
Poured from 341mL bottle. Clear yellow with minimal white head. Light wheat with some citrus and banana.

vadie (1257) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 12, 2014

Nice summer beer. Balanced. A bit of a head. Amber, gold colour. Touch of citrus.

Druid (101) - Wamuran, AUSTRALIA - AUG 24, 2013
Lots of yeasty aromas with a hint of citrus. Pours a slightly cloudy lemon straw colour. Lots of clove and spice flavours with hints of lemon and orange. This beer is similar to Blue Moon where a slice of orange would improve the experience.

Lagerboy (2239) - British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 10, 2013
341 ml bottle courtesy of Eyrish... thanx for giving up one of your summer sippers T-Rae! Unclear straw yellow, foamy white head settles slowly and mostly lasts. Nice fruity nose of citrus, banana and wit yeast. Spritzy tropical fruit taste, banana and wit, some faint spice and yeastiness. Lively carbonation, light bodied, low hopped. Tasty local effort. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

CapFlu (5132) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 9, 2013
(355ml bottle) Part of a 6-pack purchased at BC Liquor Store (Fairfield) for around $12. Pours a medium frothy white head atop a highly carbonated light golden body. Nose of mild banana. Flavour is somewhat tonic, watery wet wheat, banana, some yeasty finish. Good, maybe a tad bitter across the palate. Okay for a hot day.

Gerbeer (4057) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 25, 2013
On tap. Pours a cloudy yellow with almost no head. Light aromas of apricots and bananas with underlying funky notes. Earthy flavor with elements of vegetable juice and wheat.
