Call me crazy, but I’ve always loved this beer. Simple, yet effective. I don’t like many lagers, but I thoroughly enjoy this dark, subtle, delicious local beauty. Refreshing in the summer, comforting in the winter. WheatKing (1338) - Phnom Penh, CAMBODIA - JUL 19, 2012
MUCH better than I was expecting! Dark lagers’ soft nutty background sometimes mesh with the lager foreground to make something really good, and it happened here. Nothing overpowering, but dunkels aren’t meant to be that way, really, just a nice soft sipper. This something I’d like to share with non-craft beer drinking friends. 355 ml bottle. Pours a dark red/brown with nice light head. Aromas of toast and malt. Flavors of cereal and cardboard up front with malty slighly smoky finish. reebtogi (6341) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 3, 2011
355mL bottle poured brown color with slightly off-white head and some hints of lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and some smoke. Taste is roasted malt sweetness and some smoke and hop bitterness in the finish. A pretty good beer overall. manuchampions (1244) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 14, 2011
On tap at the Billy Bishop legion in Vancouver. Pours a medium dark brown with decent off white head. Aroma is sweet medium roasted malt, a tad thin. Medium bodied, slightly oily mouthfeel. Taste is smooth and mellow with a bunch of soft malt. Short finish. Reasonable but far less than exciting.

355 ml bottle purchased at the brewery in Victoria on 6/23/11 for $2.50 CAD Very good. mcberko (18557) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 19, 2010
UPDATED: NOV 24, 2014 On tap several times, pours a dark brown with a medium beige head. Nose brings out light roasted malt, light smoke, and some toasted notes. Flavour is the same, with a very smooth, drinkable body. Nothing overly exciting, but very easy drinking and enjoyable if nothing else is available.
Bottle, sampled at Firefly Fine Wines and Ales, pours light brown. Aroma and flavour of light roasted malts, light toast / cereal, and a slight sweetness. Drinkable. JoeZasada (317) - Beaumont, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 1, 2010
Bottle. Pours a very dark red with a lasting tan head. Earthy aroma. Tastes very malts; notes of nuts, chocholate, toffee. Earthy hop bittneress. Finishes with a burnt earthiness. Very smooth. Medium-bodied. Very drinkable... fiulijn (21022) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 1, 2010

Black color, big head. Very nice aroma of roasted malt. Elegant roasted malt flavor, creamy; very dry mouthfeel; but there is also an evident liquorice touch that is out of place. Weak final. Interesting interpretation of the style.
Really nice aroma and malty head. Was excited to try this and was not dissapointed. Great Dunkel
