kramer (6908) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 28, 2013
Tap, brewery. Nice clear dark brown body with a small foamy off-white head. Great chocolate and roasted malt nose with some sweet licorice and caramel. The flavor is a bit thin and husky, but there’s some nice chocolate and light roastiness. Very clean finish with licorice and light roast coffee. Clean crisp mouthfeel, fine fizzy carbonation. Nice light hoppiness on the back end. Really nice easy drinking beer. Came across much like a Schwarzbier.

reebtogi (6403) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 3, 2011
355mL bottle poured brown color with slightly off-white head and some hints of lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and some smoke. Taste is roasted malt sweetness and some smoke and hop bitterness in the finish. A pretty good beer overall.

TimE (6175) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 28, 2004
a medium bodied dark lager with whiffs of chocolate. Not too great and a bit thin, but not bad.

BrewDad (5667) - Olympia, Washington, USA - JUL 13, 2014
The Great BrewDad Victoria Pub Crawl 2014 - Dark in color, lager like flavors and finish. Good roasty malt flavors. This was a good rendition of a dark lager.

beerguy101 (5364) - Newark, California, USA - OCT 8, 2002
Dark black color, medium head. Roasted malts, slightly sweet. Nicely hopped, good balance. Mouthfeel is full and round. Smooth taste. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 19, 2007
Sweet, malty nose. Dark body. Head is foamy at first but flattens too soon. Smooth. Bready entry. Full of malt. Slightly sweet finish: a little too sweet for me. Mild. Drinkable and light-bodied.

CapFlu (5132) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 9, 2004
(Bottle) Mondial de la Bière 2004. Medium, beige head with and opaque body. Nose of sour milk. Sour, tart and roasted malt flavours.

presario (4925) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 11, 2007
On tap at Irish Times. Accompanied by Oysters. Creamy head. Very dark beer. Faint hints of light come through when held to the light. Nice malty body. Light stout-like. Flavours of nuts and coffee. Session quality.

RichardGretton (4838) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 16, 2012
[email protected] Head Pub, Victoria, Canada. Black beer with a strong head. The aroma has some hops, some smokiness but quite mild. The flavour is malty and roasted with a fair dry finish. Overall a reasonable mildly malty and roasted beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Meaty, lactic, licorice aroma. Clear, dark brown with thin off-white ring of head. Lactic, meaty flavour. Smooth but thick mouthfeel. Lifeless and still. Bottle (sampled at Mondial 2004).
