COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
All the taste of a perfectly balanced German Dark Lager, but made right here on the 48th parallel. Excellence knows no borders.

Dark brown appearance. Nose is of slightly sweet malt, some caramel notes. I think that either this beer had infection issues or was subject to age as it had a very tart, sour tinge to the body. Some bitterness, a little fruit.

MUCH better than I was expecting! Dark lagers soft nutty background sometimes mesh with the lager foreground to make something really good, and it happened here. Nothing overpowering, but dunkels arent meant to be that way, really, just a nice soft sipper. This something Id like to share with non-craft beer drinking friends.

Noir avec un col moyen marron. Larme du malt torrfi et du chocolat. Assez du corps avec malt torrfi et chocolat, puis une finale legerment amer et trs bien quilibr.

On tap at the Billy Bishop legion in Vancouver. Pours a medium dark brown with decent off white head. Aroma is sweet medium roasted malt, a tad thin. Medium bodied, slightly oily mouthfeel. Taste is smooth and mellow with a bunch of soft malt. Short finish. Reasonable but far less than exciting.

Sample at Picaroons Brewers Bash. This kind of reminded me of a lighter porter or dark German style lager. Roasty, a little bit of coffee and chocolate, but it had a rather thin lager body. Probably a better taste than the Guinness black lager going around now, but not as good of a body.

light malty aroma. Pours opaque black. Kind of like porter lite. Light body, roasted malts with slight bitter and sour finish.

0,3 litr fles gekocht in Ucluelet (Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada). Een 6-pack voor Cad $ 15,20 Maar het is het wel waard een heel lekkere dunkel. Hij is beter dan ik had verwacht.

Pours a deep black-amber with an off-white head and some lace. Slight molasses aroma, slightly sweet and a bit stale. A very present port-like taste with light roasted and dark crystal malt, slight hop presence, slightly stale with a warming finish. Carbonation reminiscent of soda-pop, decently creamy but thin, with a dry finish. Not a bad beer, some complexity to it, but too light in body, despite the pleasant finish.

Poured from 341mL bottle. Mahogany dark brown with beige head. Lighter-to-medium roast malt. Thats about it. Not bad.
