Dark brown appearance. Nose is of slightly sweet malt, some caramel notes. I think that either this beer had infection issues or was subject to age as it had a very tart, sour tinge to the body. Some bitterness, a little fruit. pumpmaster (1430) - Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA - JUN 25, 2011
355 ml bottle purchased at the brewery in Victoria on 6/23/11 for $2.50 CAD Very good. WheatKing (1338) - Phnom Penh, CAMBODIA - JUL 19, 2012
MUCH better than I was expecting! Dark lagers’ soft nutty background sometimes mesh with the lager foreground to make something really good, and it happened here. Nothing overpowering, but dunkels aren’t meant to be that way, really, just a nice soft sipper. This something I’d like to share with non-craft beer drinking friends. vadie (1257) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 3, 2015
On tap at the Billy Bishop legion in Vancouver. Pours a medium dark brown with decent off white head. Aroma is sweet medium roasted malt, a tad thin. Medium bodied, slightly oily mouthfeel. Taste is smooth and mellow with a bunch of soft malt. Short finish. Reasonable but far less than exciting.

Poured from 341mL bottle. Mahogany dark brown with beige head. Lighter-to-medium roast malt. That’s about it. Not bad. HeistAlmighty (1156) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - AUG 7, 2013
Sample at Picaroons Brewers Bash. This kind of reminded me of a lighter porter or dark German style lager. Roasty, a little bit of coffee and chocolate, but it had a rather thin lager body. Probably a better taste than the Guinness black lager going around now, but not as good of a body. TipsyMcStager (1139) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 11, 2007
light malty aroma. Pours opaque black. Kind of like porter lite. Light body, roasted malts with slight bitter and sour finish. stantheman (1098) - British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 29, 2012
Bottle at Hops in New West. Lots of good head here! Very dark in color, with a little translucency about the edges. Well malted for sure, and it’s predominately smoky in character. A good’un , yup!
