0,3 litr fles gekocht in Ucluelet (Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada). Een 6-pack voor Cad $ 15,20 Maar het is het wel waard een heel lekkere dunkel. Hij is beter dan ik had verwacht.

Pours a deep black-amber with an off-white head and some lace. Slight molasses aroma, slightly sweet and a bit stale. A very present port-like taste with light roasted and dark crystal malt, slight hop presence, slightly stale with a warming finish. Carbonation reminiscent of soda-pop, decently creamy but thin, with a dry finish. Not a bad beer, some complexity to it, but too light in body, despite the pleasant finish.

Dark brown pour. Aroma is roasted malts. Nothing too big or overpowering here, but decent flavours. Has nice lightly roasted flavours, nut, just enough hops for balance.

6/6/08 On draught at the Stickey Wicket, Victoria, BC. Aroma is very low with lightly roasted sweet malt dominating. Appearance is dark brown with a tan head. Flavor is roast malt forward with no hops; very simple. Mouthfeel is medium-high bodied with a very low carb texture. Overall, nothing objectionable, but not enough flavor.

Not the best beer I’ve had from this brewery, but still drinkable. Poured a very dark amber colour (like a Coke!) along with an almost brown foamy head. Aroma was a teeny tiny bit of malt matched with some light hopping. Taste was rather more malty and also had some coffee in there as well.

Call me crazy, but I’ve always loved this beer. Simple, yet effective. I don’t like many lagers, but I thoroughly enjoy this dark, subtle, delicious local beauty. Refreshing in the summer, comforting in the winter.

Pours dark brown black, good head. Aroma of roasted malts, floral. Taste is roasted malty lager with loads of carbonation. I enjoyed.

Hermann's has a nice flavour to it, a little watery but the best beer I've had from Vancouver Island Brewery.
