Bottle. Pours a very dark red with a lasting tan head. Earthy aroma. Tastes very malts; notes of nuts, chocholate, toffee. Earthy hop bittneress. Finishes with a burnt earthiness. Very smooth. Medium-bodied. Very drinkable...

Poured from 341mL bottle. Mahogany dark brown with beige head. Lighter-to-medium roast malt. That’s about it. Not bad.

Dark brown-black with a short tan-coloured head. Deliciously strong smell of toasted grain, chocolate, and bitter hops. Taste starts as delicious caramel, roasted malt, and hops, but quickly transitions into a long, unpleasant tinny finish. Not very well balanced, but would be fantastic without the metallic end on finish.

Hermann's has a nice flavour to it, a little watery but the best beer I've had from Vancouver Island Brewery.

TimE (5808) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 28, 2004
a medium bodied dark lager with whiffs of chocolate. Not too great and a bit thin, but not bad.

Radek Kliber (7352) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - JUN 12, 2004
Sweet medium roasted malt that seemed to be a bit like a bock. Medium bodied, slightly oily texture. Smooth mellow with bunch of soft malt. Short finish.

Dark brown colour. mild roasted malt nose. roasted malt taste with faint hops.

Not the best beer I’ve had from this brewery, but still drinkable. Poured a very dark amber colour (like a Coke!) along with an almost brown foamy head. Aroma was a teeny tiny bit of malt matched with some light hopping. Taste was rather more malty and also had some coffee in there as well.

Really nice aroma and malty head. Was excited to try this and was not dissapointed. Great Dunkel

On tap at the Billy Bishop legion in Vancouver. Pours a medium dark brown with decent off white head. Aroma is sweet medium roasted malt, a tad thin. Medium bodied, slightly oily mouthfeel. Taste is smooth and mellow with a bunch of soft malt. Short finish. Reasonable but far less than exciting.
