Sea Dog is an amber ale fashioned after the German Altbier style. Like a true Altbier, it is fermented with ale yeast, but at a colder lager temperature. This gives it a clean finish with no esters like a lager, but retaining the malty quality of an ale. Its deep copper colour comes from a heavy addition of dark crystal malt, and a touch of chocolate malt. Sea Dog is lightly bittered, so as to not mask its intense maltyness. Most of its hop character comes from a heavy dose of Willamette and Hallertauer hops at the very end of the boil.

The beer pours a translucent dark amber colour with a thin tad head. Aroma is sweet malt, molasses, and grains. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is on the sweet malt with dark fruit, molasses, and grains.

Pours a clear amber color, topped with a tan colored head. There is a very pleasant biscuity aroma, some caramel and malts. The taste is creamy, with easily noted caramel and chocolate notes. A lingering caramel aftertaste. Extremely drinkable and ejoyable. One of the best lately.

(bottle) clear amber colour with a medium tall tan head; aromas of noble hops, watery palate; clean and refreshing if not bland flavour with no finish

[Bottle (341ml).] Pours a deep orange-amber with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma is lightly sweet, malty and fruity along with some grain and nuts. Flavour of caramel malt, notes of fruit and nuts and no hops to speak of. Average bodied. Too mild and average for me, its clean and inoffensive at least.

341 ml bottle. Clear copper, mostly lasting small tan head. Muted sweet malt aroma. Clean sweet caramel malt taste and not much else. Soft carbonation, light bodied, low hopped. Nice enough amber ale. MLF (More Lagerboy Friendly)

This lager poured a deep amber colour with a big, creamy, light tan coloured head. Scents include light caramel, dough, bread and old books? First sip was very smooth to almost the point of watery. Flavours of light smoke, caramel and roasted malt most predominant. Finish was malty and thin.
