COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2018 Rich brown, clear, medium strong head. Sweet aroma of rotten fruit and some brett notes. Dry, light, very sour, but quite content with more fruity notes in the finish. Good, but a bit too sour for me.

I have found this bottle from Amstein, it was a «present» after to buy a good amount of beers. Best before 10/18. The color is a wonderful and deep red/brown color, clear, slightly troubled. The carbonation is perfect for the style, soft at the palate, thin and white foam. The taste is at the first sip, deeply sour, but already after the second one, it becomes more well-balanced. The taste has all the time this sourness, but it is find, sensation of vinegar, red fruits like cherries. You have a side of oak, but this touch is discreet like the cognac that you could guess at the final, also soft, some malt, few hop, not bad.

Bottle (best before 28-01-19). Appearance: very elegant, very dark red with a mix of brown and orange reflections, nice thick off white foam with medium to high retention, low carbonation. Smell: smooth balsamic vinegar, some roasted notes as it warms down a bit, very low to no oak. Taste: notes of cherry, stone fruits, red grappes, medium sourness, low sweetness, medium texture and feel. medium drinkability. Overall: considering concerns in terms of storage from Bier Market, it still lacks some complexity one aromas from cognac oak barrel again, a bit disappointed.

Bottle from SB. Clear dark amber with an off-white head. Oak, vinegar, caramel, very slight rhubarb, red wine dryness, sour cherry, light vanilla, ends with a sweet caramel cherry flavour. When it warms up there are notes of slightly bitter, dry pure cocoa. The more you drink the more the sourness turns into underripe off-season sour raspberries. A nice beer that reminds me of Rodenbach Grand Cru

UPDATED: FEB 14, 2018 Fra flaske. Aromaen er funky, minder om lambic. En del kirsebær og fad i næsen. Smagen har høj syre, en del tanniner. Kompleks og lækker øl!

Clear red beer, low carbonation, some molasses and dough notes at nose. The flavor is really sour and has some vinegar flavours. The aftertaste is again really sour, and it is difficult to differentiate the malt notes or hop ones, at the end is according to the lambic style.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cerveza con tonos cítricos, alto nivel de acidez y un color marrón muy intenso. Tienes notas aromáticas a Eno y cuero, toques de tierra húmeda y vainilla. Una cerveza muy bien lograda en su estilo y de sabor complejo. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(old clear bourgogne, nez aigre-cerise discret, bois-sèche & no sucrée, fin old red vinegar (râpe), few complexity)

Bottle shared at home. Clear dark brown with offwhite head. Sour grapes, raisans, dried cherry, vinegar, balsamic, oak, some cardboard. Relentless sour with sweetened edges. Medium body and soft carbonation. Too much biting acid for my joy.
