Originally called "Ouden Tripel", this ancient West Flanders Brown beer has found a new élan as a regional specialty under its current name: "Bellegems bruin". The main ingredients of our Bellegems Bruin are malted barley, wheat, hops, water, and caramelized malts. These are used to brew a top-fermented beer. Blending this beer with lambic beer aged in oak for 18 months results in this specific West Flanders Brown beer. Its typical flavour is characterized by a well-balanced, hardly noticeable sourness. This first flavour impression is soon followed by a second pleasant discovery: a slight bitterness followed by a hint of sweetness.

Rødbrunt med lavt skum. Lukt av eik, mørke bær, karamell og noe eddik. Mye av det samme i smaken. Lett fylde.

luttonm (6844) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 14, 2017
Bottle in Seattle. Lingering off white foam ring, darker Ruby brown appearance. Dark malt and cherries on nose. Smooth fruity brown malt up front with a light Flanders tartness to follow. Fairly sweet. Not bad.

Mariox (363) - Warsaw, POLAND - OCT 14, 2017
Backlog, pite w Kulminatorze. Dość przeciętne w stylu. Niczym się w sumie nie wyróżnia.

jsporrer (1128) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 9, 2017
Pours a dirty brown with an off white ring. Faint aroma of tart sour cherries. Not very tart or sour taste. There are some dark fruit flavors like raisin or plum. Flavors don't last very long and there isn't much of a lingering aftertaste. Not bad but not that good.
