COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
9%vol. 33, 75 and 150cl Beer very amber in color, strong, nose fruity and delicate, soft and round with the palate; slightly hopped but correctly spiced (roasted chicory, coriander, and sweet orange peel, among other ingredients). Bottle fermented and complex. On the Port-y side fresh. Spiced distinctly with orange, corriander and chicory. Should cellar nicely.

75 cl bottle. Color is dark amber with a light brown head. Bottle have been infected, taste and nose quite sour. Taste is plums, malty with a sour finish. More like a oud bruin. Kind of nice beer.

Bottle from backlog notes shared by Tmoney99. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, spices, orange peel, I guess I am getting the chicory, some stronger flavors that aren't working very well together.

75cl cellared bottle bb06/2017 shared at Freiburg Delug Tasting Aug2017. - No gusher like Vapeur Saison - can easily be an infected bottle. - Vapeur, oldschool saison brewer of the Fantôme school of Je m’en foutisme aka Anything Goes into a heavily spiced mash: dirty deep amber pour with a syrupy feel to it. Nose heavy on sweet orange and coriander marmelade, some sherry and prune liqueur from aging - not much witloof/chicory which comes in later in the back palate finish. Roast malt, sugar beet and sirop de Liège and Cointreau oranges in flavour make it predominantly sweet, yet drinkability is medium, palate dryish like medium dry sherry lieblich Spätburgunder Weißherbst. Also there is an underlying stone fruit tartness and late Roast qality like muckefuck coffee and chicory in the back, powdered coffee and cacao. - Less wildness than Fantôme, but definitely of the same mindset and undervalued here - the 80s style comic labels with naked sows hardly help its image. Easy 9%...a challenge to pair this with food: seeks complexity as a match.

33cl-fles gekregen als staal van vertegenwoordigster van Brasserie à Vapeur. U: Helder hazelnootbruin met een dunne lichtbruine schuimkraag. G: Karamel, zeer kruidig, porto en wat alcohol. S: Zoet. Karamel, koriander, sinaasappelschil en donker fruit. Plakkerige en alcoholische afdronk. M: Medium body met medium carbonatie.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2016 Pours a hazy amber with a medium white rim that leaves some lacing. Nose is of caramel, dark fruits and spices. Taste is more dark fruits with some light fruity tartness. Warming alcohol. Body is medium, carbonation moderate. A fun belgian strong with some good quadrupel features.

Bottle. Clear amber beer with a decent beige head. Malty spicy aroma, grapes, caramel, herbal, some floral notes. Malty herbal flavor, grassy, citrus, hay, some warming alcohol. Ok.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2016 Que recherchons nous, amateurs de bière lorsque nous découvrons une bière? Pour ma part, en plus de l’échange avec mes convives, une émotion. Et en décapsulant cette vapeur cochonne (bouteille de 75 cl, 8,5 Abv), je ne m’y attendais pas tout à fait. Peut être le côté marketing de l’étiquette me rendant méfiant! En verre, la bière présente une couleur bronze et une légère opacité. D’une effervescence peu marquée, une fine mousse d’un demi centimètre surplombe notre breuvage. Le nez est particulièrement expressif. Les arômes de moût de raisin boisé portés sur des notes acides sont des plus poussés. A la dégustation, l’attaque est d’une franche amertume couplée à une grande complexité. La comparaison à l’orval qui a été déjà brillamment effectuée sur le site se justifie complètement. Une orval qui aurait gagné en longueur, en corps et en variation. Nous retrouvons ainsi des arômes d’écorces d’orange et des notes épicées très agréables. Le final, plus arrondi et suave présente des arômes de pruneaux et de résineux laissant en bouche une très agréable sensation. La vapeur cochonne est en conclusion une bière qui surprend, qui vous interpelle mais dont les arômes très riches et complexes vous font passer un moment des plus agréables. Que d’émotions!

Bottle (750 ml), shared. Hazy amber with a small off-white head leaving little lacing. Aroma is of caramel malt, spices (coriander mostly), orange peel and berries. Taste is moderately sweet, quite spicy (coriander again), with orange peel, caramel, mineral/earthy notes and very light bitterness. Medium body. Soft to moderate carbonation. Spicy and caramel-ish finish with mild lingering orange peel presence. Too spicy and caramel forward for my liking but not badly executed. Ok.

750 ml bottle shared by Keir - thanks again, Keir! I guess. 1996 vintage. This one pours a clear orange with no head. Notes of leather, metal, apple skins, earth, wet leaves and wood, some mild spice. Light-bodied, with low carbonation and mouthfeel that I described as "tart and weird". It’s a complete mess. I have no idea what it was like years ago but this doesn’t cellar for 20 years, it turns out. I’d rate it a lot lower if it were newer.
