Many thanks for this beer to tderoeck. Wyglad ust na etykiecie poprawia nastruj, ale czy to piwo jest kochane, napewno jest dobre. Zapach cos jak owocowego lambicka kwiaty rozy. Piana niewielka szybko opada, metne o barwie czerwono pomaranczowej. Smak to glownie konfitura zozana, syrop klonowy, dynia, figi. Fajne kwaskowy zakonczenie, ogolne dobre piwo w pamieci zostanie ta rozana konfitura. Ciekawe

Mon premier vôte n’ayant pas été pris en compte, j’ en mets un nouveau. Bière à déguster entre 12 et 14°, selon les recommandations inscrites sur la bouteille. Mais elle est également agréable très fraîche (8 à 10°). Bière ambrée foncée, non pasteurisée et non filtrée. Le goût de figue est très présent, et il est persistant en bouche. L’acidité l’emporte sur l’amertume, ce qui n’est pas pour me déplaire.

(Where did my original rating go?) 75cl bottle shared at Weird Beer Tasting May [email protected] - Immense gusher, almost redecorating the place. Smells like souring autumn leave humus, mulchy earth, downtrodden berries. Prickly and berry-sour in taste as well, fruit caramels thinned out by brett or infection - the bitterness can be both vegetal (chicory) or nut-like (walnut)..must be those figs leaves. Interesting culinary saison which was literally all over the place...like an even earthier musty wood version of already fascinatingly dirty Saison de Pipaix...

@bartlebier’s weird beer tasting/Bierhandlung/Mai16; grossly labeled gross gusher offering a landscape of a taste profile. nice nose of very young brie and green grapes, quite some alcohol in taste but extra points for this interesting harsh herbal bitterness that can’t possibly only be the hops and for being able to taste like passing by fig trees at night in the south of France in late summer on a dusty road.

750 ml. bottle sampled / shared with philus & kraddel. Idiosyncratic Vapeur beer with fig leaves & also hops from the brewers garden if I am reading this correctly. Fig leaves, that one is an odd one, sounds like the guy was just growing figs and decided to do something with the waste, I don’t think that one eats or uses fig leaves in anything. Capped & corked bottle. Reddish amber, off-white. Nose is extremely weird, akin to a hugely oxidized old beers, cooked apple, dishwashing liquid, old vegetable oxidation-like notes, I think that my bottle was pretty fresh so I assume that this weird oxidation-like profile comes from the leaves. Taste is sweet apple, dry leaves, overly dry, weird oxidation, vegetable, Kulminator bar atmosphere, plants, bay leaves, oxidized strawberry,… Really dries out your mouth, taste is far too much, weird, excessive, combined with they dry mouth effect, this one is interesting but really hard to stomach, massively plant-like & oxidation-like. Weird as expected.

Pours unclear amberbrown , ok foam, yeasty smell, bit bitter, not fresh at all. Taste is Sharp, bitter, tastes aged. Madeira and oxidation, over a Sharp sour/bitter, tastes like something rotting...

Bottle shared with Tom. Hazy golden/orange, white foam. Spicy nose with notes of lemon, pepper and coriander. Unbalanced and not easy drinkable. Not very good.

Little hazy orange beer, creamy yellowish head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: malty, bit fruity, some apples, caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, malty, caramel, pretty spicy, slightly sour, some apple skin. Aftertaste: spicy touch, some coriander, bit earthy, fruity.

Alengrin (5554) - BELGIUM - OCT 28, 2014
Celebration ale for the 25th anniversary of this brewery, tasted at a Vilvordia Bierproeffestival years ago, apparently made with fig leaves from the brewer’s garden... Thin, off-white head, misty copper colour. Strange, unique, even somewhat bizarre aroma, cranberry, tulips, dried leaves, candied figs, freshly cut grass, raw rhubarb, sour yoghurt, tomato, passion fruit... Vinous in the mouth, strange and not easy to describe: something fruity and something tart, very ’raw vegetable’-like and herbal, which I suppose comes from those fig leaves, though I am almost reminded of oak leaf lettuce or something of that kind, blood orange, sweetishness, a bit yeasty, tart finish without real bitterness. There is an oud bruin-like quality to it, but in all, this is one of those weird, idiosyncratic Belgians defying classification. I am grateful such beers still exist in this country, though I cannot honestly say I enjoyed this a lot, though I am all for Vapeur. Points for originality, nonetheless. heel eigenaardig, moeilijk te omschrijven, lichtzurig en fruitig, fris, zeer ‘plantaardig’, als verse eikenbladsla, bloedsinaasappel, zoetig, nooit echt bitter wordend, heel in de verte enigszins herinnerend aan oud bruin.

Bière rousse de 7 % abv, avec 80 % de malt pâle et 20 % de malt cristal, du houblon du brasseur et un Golding régional, enfin des feuilles de figuier du brasseur … On va le savoir … Couleur roux clair dans le style de l’Orval (rassurez-vous, ce sera le seul point positif de la critique …). Apparence bizarre avec levure et autres matières en suspension. Bulles fines mais peu volontaires. Mousse qui fait un nappage beige sale, vraiment pas joli. Arômes de fruits en marmelade, abricot, grenade. Ensemble vraiment curieux. 1ère bouche douce à la prise un peu maltée, mais bien vite suivie des feuilles de figuier (rassurez-vous, elles ne vont pas nous quitter …). Arrière-bouche étrange avec une pointe mentholée. 2ème avec ces fameuses feuilles, mais où on frise à certains moments l’acidité et l’aigreur. 3ème bouche au manque total d’harmonie. Décalage énorme entre le côté végétal aromatique (ou supposé) et le malt complètement masqué. La longueur est complètement monotone. Un véritable carcan que ces feuilles de figuier. La levure est quelconque. L’alcool est correct, mais que peut-il faire, le pauvre ?? La finale est nulle. CONCLUSION : monotone, lassant, pas harmonieux, quasi aigre. N’en jetez plus !!! de ces feuilles de figuier … Le brasseur avait sûrement besoin de s’en débarasser ...
