50cl swing top bottle courtesy of Erzengel! A clear reddish brown beer with a mid-sized most good lasting beige head. Aroma of red fruits, tart fruits, caramel. Taste of caramelish malt, dark malt, soft tart red fruits. Gangstergafje (1342) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - JUN 11, 2017
11-06-2017; bottle; at home (bought somewhere in Varel, Germany).
The beer looks like a proper Dunkel/Tmavý. The beer is dark brown, with a nice dark amber glow. The beer seems a bit cloudy, but because of the darkness this is hard to tell. On top of the beer a nice soft layer of slightly off-white foam is formed. Foam retention is quite good.
The smell of the beer isn’t bad, but it ain’t great either. It is not totally what I had expected rather. It is a bit more sour... The smell contains some nice aroma’s of dark toasted malts. There is a little touch of chocolate and coffee, and some stronger aromas of caramel. I also smell some smoke. Besides this there is some cherry and quite a lot of rather sour cherry like things and maybe some sour yeast aromas. Could be a bit less of this sour stuff.
The taste is a bit less. The malt flavours are very weak. Only the smoke is clearly present. I also still taste the cherry, but the sour fruits and the sour yeast flavours fill the flavour. It is way out of balance, because of the indelicate sours. To bad the balance is off... It is still nice, but with a bit less sours the beer would be way better.
The palate is average. Medium body, a bit sticky and medium carbonation. The finish is filled with the same to strong sours and some of the smoke. All in all, a beer with a lot of room for improvement. It misses a lot of balance. Martinus (4732) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - JAN 7, 2017

McTapps (6984) - Reutlingen, GERMANY - APR 13, 2015
Sample from Erzengel, many thanks! The beer has got a clear deep brown colour with a low head and low body. Aroma of straw and bread. Taste of dark bread, malt, barley, grains and mild vegs. Thin and watery mouthfeel with a strange finish. Nothing good. Erzengel (9745) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - APR 6, 2015
33cl bottle. best before 30.04.2015. The same olive-like nose like the other beers, only with hints of malt. Malty-sourish beginning. Dry, olives, malt. Not much sweetness, slightly bitter till the end with an interesting mixture of olives and dry and bitter malt. Hints of roast, strange brew.
