2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Lots of roast, biscuit and chocolate character in the nose. Clear deep brown body is topped by a light, large bubbled, beige head that recedes to a rhin cover with some light lacing. Flavour is perhaps overly roasty and hop character is obscured. Assertive roasty bitterness is long lasting. Medium body is perhaps a bit watery in texture though lightly prickly carbonation offsets this somewhat. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle purchased at Brewery Creek in May 2012.
(from backlog of RBAG 2013 ratings notes). Medium brown colour, average off white head. Caramel flavour with a tannic Red Rose Tea quality and peanut-skin dryness in the finish. Lagerboy (2239) - British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 15, 2013
Found a bomber of this at The Witch of Endor liquor store in Maple Ridge, and took a chance, and after 14 months in their beer fridge it was still good! Clear deep dark copper, small foamy tan head fades. Aroma of roasted chocolate malt, slightly floral. Bitter chocolate roasted malt taste which lasts to the finish, a bit watery at first, earthy citrus hoppiness, some nuttiness. Soft carbonation, light-medium body, moderately hopped. Dry bitter finish. Enjoyable and easy to drink, but still NFL (Not For Lagerboys) reebtogi (6403) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 24, 2012
3 - 4oz samples at the VCBW 2012 in the Salt Building while on vacation in Vancouver pours a dark brown color with a finger of off-white head that leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is dark roasty malts with some floral and citrus. Taste is a citrusy hop bitterness with a light chocolate malty sweetness underneath. Light to medium body with mild carbonation. Quite a tasty brew and a good representation of the style, definitely recommended. WheatKing (1351) - Phnom Penh, CAMBODIA - AUG 2, 2012
Very strongly roasted malt here, tastes like more black malt than average to me. The hops were very earthy. The strength of the malt actually allows me to say that this is a strongly balanced 5.5% IPA, which is weird, as a beer this hoppy is not typically balanced. (650ml bottle) Courtesy of me. Good malt and hop base. Bitter hoppiness and cereal. One of the better collaborations I've had.

Deep brown pour with a thick white head. The nose is a little bit earthy. Soft brown malt flavour backed by some earthy hop character. As it warms it has a little touch of fruity hoppiness as well. Really well balanced. Malty without being sweet. Simple but really easy to put back.

Bottle. Courtesy of resenaren. Pours a clear brown color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty hoppy caramel aroma. Roasted malty licorice hoppy flavor. Has a roasted malty hoppy finish. RumRunner101 (918) - Alberta, CANADA - JUN 13, 2012
Pours dirty brown with a little bit of head that leaves some lacing. Aromas of earthy hops, grapefruit. Quite strong hop presence in the aroma. On the palate its all hops. No balance. Disappointing, really. XaenDovet (1281) - British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 6, 2012
On tap at alibi room. Clear amber. Sticky lacing. Taste is citrus hop smoke. Aroma of damp wood. Not bad.
