Vedett Extra White has a delicious refreshing taste, surprisingly crisp punctuated with an orange- and lemon like zest, rounded with a mildly bitter taste and dry finish.

Citrus kleur met weinig schuim. Ziet eruit als fanta. Ruikt fruitig.

25cl draught at Parkkaffee (14 VIII 2017), shared with my girlfriend. Cloudy, ugly dirt looking hazy pale body with a dull white soapy collar on top, quite longlasting yet minimal whatsoever. A greenish gloom makes up for an unnatural yet not uninteresting, highly commercialized brew. This Moortgat’s take on Hoegaarden has a rather comparable nose although less black pepper spiced. Think of refreshing green herbs, ginger, lime zeste, lemon and lemonade flavours. A wheaty backbone comes together in nose and mouthfeel alike. The taste is somewhat mediocre with a subtle lime caracther building upon a too watery spine. Some gingerlike and minth features top the flattish palate. The ending has some fresh notes, fruit hints even (citrus and passiflora in particular), but also some artificial and metallic aspects. This Vedett Extra White actually is a decent witbier or wheat ale try with keen malt and alcoholic dashes. The carbonation is pretty mild, the bitterness is not fierce. Ok!

LCI.

Ok.

330 ml bottle at Het Amsterdammertje, Göteborg. Hazy light yellow with white head. Light wheat and light fruit. Dry with low bitterness and medium carbonation. -

Bottle from bierland, Belgium. A decent witbier, classic coriander and citrus notes. Very fresh. Nothing spectacular though.

Onopvallend wit biertje van Duvel. Laag alcoholpercentage en weinig smaak: citroen. Goede schuimkraag.

Tegenvaller. Moeilijk te plaatsen qua kleur en smaakbeleving. Proeft waterig.

cglans (247) - - JUN 6, 2017
