Ughsmash (7510) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 29, 2012
Bottled. Poured hazy medium orange with a tall, well-retained off-white head. The aroma picked up sweet bananas, cloves, and detergenty notes over a doughy base.. just a touch meaty.. OK, but I didn’t love it. The flavor found banana meat, doughy notes, and a kiss of vanilla at the core.. tangy wheat and cloves laced throughout.. prickly carbonation and white pepper accented on the finish.. this grew on me. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. almost creamy on the middle.. overall well-balanced and tasty.

Pale yellow with a white head. Aroma is musty yeast with notes of banana. Flavor is very slight banana with light notes of malt. Clean finish, and easy to drink. Not the most notable hefe, but not bad.

Oakes (19010) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 29, 2012
Pours light amber, cloudy and with a large, fluffy weissbier head. The aroma is spicy with light apple. Sweetish, a little bit appley and a little bit yeasty. Finishes a bit sweet as well, perhaps witout the nuance I’d prefer.

Veldensteiner wird wohl nie meine Brauerei. Alles im Angebot und nichts wirklich zu bieten! Dieses Weißbier ist säuerlich-hefig ohne jeglichen Höhepunkt. Fragt sich, wer sowas wirklich mag...

Bottle. Pours clear orange with a white head. Wheaty, yeasty, light fruity notes, banana, and a yeasty finish. Slightly above average carbonation. Pretty good.

corby112 (2813) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 2, 2012

Pours a cloudy golden orange color with straw yellow edges and a two finger frothy, pillowy white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Streaks and large spots of soapy lacing left behind.

Spicy aroma with a prominent clove presence that’s countered by bready yeast, banana and citrus rind. The yeast character is really strong ith lots of bread and banana that overpowers the spice and orange peel notes.

Medium bodied with soft carbonation and a zesty spice flavor that lingers over the yeast, banana and citrus notes into a slightly dry, tart finish. Strong clove presence up front that’s quickly countered by prominent bread and banana notes. Tart orange peel sweetness in the finish. Overall this is an average example of the style. It has all of the traditional characteristics but the bread/banana/yeast presence is too strong for my preference overpowering the other flavors.

Ernest (7861) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - SEP 1, 2012

Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned.

Aroma is lightly malty (grain), with notes of plaster and banana.

Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean.

Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation.

Par for the course for the Veldensteiner line, but a hunk o’ junk compared to the rest o’ the world.

Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 27, 2012
Flip top bottle at Apfelhaus "festival" (nr Sibiu). Nice amber thick with ice cream head in the brewery’s branded glass. Smells sweet, bordering on candylike, with lots of caramelized fruit. Heavy yeast in the palate, feeling tacky on the tongue and yet nourishing at the same time. Floral and vanilla notes complement the ripe fruit overload.

Mariusz (12111) - Baden-Baden, GERMANY - JUL 23, 2012
A solid hefe, though a little light. A tad thin maybe but refreshing. There are many better and many worse.

wlajwl (7120) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Aroma is wheat, fruit/cranberry and a mild effervescence. The flavor is wheat malts, fruit and a mild sweetness in the finish.
