Pailhead (6525) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - JUL 9, 2011
Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus, banana, clove, and a hint of banana. It pours a cloudy dull orange with a large creamy white head with great retention that leaves behind some nice lacing. The flavor starts with citrus and faint banana. The finish had light clove and a touch of bubblegum. Medium bodied with somewhat lively carbonation.

bottle. murky dark gold, almost brown, with a large, foamy white head. zesty banana aroma with clove. palate is light with a fine bubbled carbonation. lacks creaminess and full body. i like the flavor with ripe bananas and light spice, but i’m not crazy about the palate.

Test vom 6.8.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,5,6,5,9,5

Sample at the Veldensteiner tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 4/8/11. Clear yellow pour with a huge off-white head. Nose is banana, clove and bubblegum. Flavor is banana, clove and bubblegum. Not my thing.

Great looking pour with an inch-thick meringue head and lemon color. Banana and clove nose with a hint of spiciness. Malty mouthfeel with mild lemon and banana notes and some spice in the finish.

500 ml swing-top bottle. Served in a weizen glass, the beer pours a hazy golden/orange color with a two inch frothy white head. Head retention is pretty good, but there isn’t much lacing at all. Aroma is cloves, banana and wheat. Nice smelling brew. It tastes like wheat, cloves, and a bit of bubblegum. Not as nice as the aroma, but still decent. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it’s smooth and is well carbonated (maybe a bit too much). I think it’s a decent brew, but not one of the best hefe’s I’ve tried. With that being said, it’s worth a try.

Bottle. Golden with a large fluffy foam. Aromas are banana, yeast and fairly sharp citrus. Spicy with low wheat malts. Flavours are sweet wheat with bubblegum and yeast. Tart citrus with some cream. Dry on the finish with lots of carbonation. OK.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2013 500 ml swing top bottle. Best before 9/16. Tomorrow ironically. I have been known to enjoy weissbiers near their due date, but I obviously prefer them fresher. It pours with a typical billowing almost uncontrollable head. It is big, fluffy, and white. It doesn’t leave a huge amount of lacing as it recedes though. The body is a honey amber with a touch of gold, slightly hazy. This one is a ripe banana bomb in the smell. Lots of ripe banana here, there is also a good bit of spicy clove. There is also some caramel. The taste is kind of on the bland side for the style, though refreshing. It has a very noticeable malt flavor that is almost honey graham cracker like. The clove comes out a bit more in the flavor. The banana is there in the taste but it tastes more like a young banana rather than a ripe one. It is middle of the road hefe, I have to think some of the flavors have faded, it probably has a lot more banana in the flavor when fresh. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-15-2010 05:36:20
