Amber colored, little white head. Sweetness, berries, sourness, mild caramel and vinous tones in aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is not as good as aroma: starts with sweet cherry tones, ends with sour and lasting dryness. Reminds me of some lambics. TBone (18558) - Pori, FINLAND - MAR 30, 2006

Clear amber color, small white head. Burned butterscotch aroma, a bit malty. Dry, watery and very carbonated. Tart flavor, almost lambic-like. Some roasted notes in the aftertaste. Quite interesting, but not very good brew. There is maybe something which reminds about Duchesse De Bourgogne.
clear dark amber colour; fine stable head; weird aroma of meat; piney and raisiney; mainly sweet with a hint of tartness; short and discrete undefinable aftertaste - don’t know what I should do with this ?!? JonMoore (2067) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 18, 2005
Bottle. Copper coloured with a slim and weak white head. Aroma is buttery, malty, caramel and metallic. Very watery mouthfeel; metallic taste, weak caramel, weak whiskey in there. Quite highly carbonated. Not particularly good. Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 16, 2005
(Bottle 25 cl) Amber coloured with a slightly beige head. Nice malty nose with a touch of caramel in the flavour. Rather anonymous "Speciale" - and far from the best of it’s style. 151197

Pours dark orange colored with a fizzy off-white head. Acidid malt aroma with caramel hints. Tart fruity flavor with distinctive Verhaeghe tones even though it’s not a sour ale! Quite dry and rather rancid. All right, but I definately prefer their other beers!!! Still very different and interesting! diabel (1723) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - NOV 4, 2004
Bottle Amber body. Off-white head. Citric aroma. Moderately sour flavour. lachesis (757) - St Idesbald, BELGIUM - JUL 12, 2004
Light ambercolored beer with fine white lace.Ale like aroma with with a fruity touch. The taste is fresh with a sweet-fruity side. The afthertaste is dry and a little hoppy. ThomasE (5174) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 30, 2004
Amber colour with off white head. Aroma and flavor are sour with hints prunes and caramel. Ungstrup (38941) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAR 23, 2004
A nut brown beer with a beutiful beige head. The aroma is sour with notes of caramel, nuts, and prunes. The flavor is sweet and sour with notes caramel, wood, prunes, and licorice. The end is rather hop bitter and dry but leaves with notes of prunes. A bit tart. I'm disappointed in this one - coming from Verhaeghe.
