Duchesee de Bourgogne is the traditional top fermented reddish-brown ale from the West-Flanders region of Belgium. This refined ale also known as "The Burgundies of Belgium" is a blend of 8 and 18 months old ales following careful maturation in oak casks. 100% natural and unpasteurized.

A favorite since my first tasting... almost champagne-like effervescence and fizz that forces you to sip instead of gulp. best as the first beer of the night b/c it seems almost too sour after anything else. fruity and vinegar-y, it’s one of the most unique beers I’ve had and would def put it on my top 5

Duchesse de Bourgogne pours a dark color with a deep red hue. Its tan head is small, but leaves nice lacing behind. The bouquet is very fruity with vinous notes of muscat, plums, and red berries. The attack is malty but is quickly followed by a light- to medium-bodied mid-palate with vibrant notes of of apple vinegar, cherry, plum, as well as hints of lemon and banana. The hop contributes minimal bitterness that becomes more apparent in the crisp finish. A great and complex brew.

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2017 Very sour vinegary. Balsamic aroma and tatse. pronounced wood aromas. very interesting, but quite tasty

Really good beer, I have tried many times... good with cheeses, gauda, emental, apricots... Nice, sweet taste, sour finish, taste as its origin SOUR RED BROWN. But last bottle I have tried was not as the old bottles. Beer was really heavy sour. Dunno why. So i took minus -2points.

Barwa miedziano-rubinowa, wpadająca w brunatny, klarowne, piana w kolorze złamanej bieli, umiarkowanie obfita, ładnie zdobi szkło. W aromacie nieco wiśni, octu, czerwone wino. W smaku wytrawne, kwaśność na poziomie do umiarkowanego, nuty wiśniowe, lekko stajenne, skórzane, czerwone wino, ocet. Wyraźna przyprawowość na finiszu, dochodzą też drewniane taniny, kojarzące się z winem. Leciutki, szlachetny alkohol, wanilia na granicy autosugestii. Wysycenie średnie, ciało solidne, świetna pijalność, dużo się dzieje. Świetne piwo, spełnia wysokie oczekiwania, warto do niego wracać za każdym razem.

Pours into a snifter the luscious cherry, copper colored ale with a subtle foam lacing. Tiny bubbles rise rapidly like an Italian soda. The oakiness is underplayed in the aroma, with notes of cherries and spiced vinegar. The finish is exceptionally rich and satisfying, the 2 year plus aging is impeccable. The barrels used are some of the best I’ve tasted in a beer, usually this artisan technique is reserved for 4 yr plus brandy or wine. Top marks all around... cheers BV Belgium!

W aromacie kon, stajnie i troche octu. Mocno funky. Barwa burgundowa, piana drobna, utrzymujaca sie. W smaku octowe, dosyc slodkie, tu gorzej niz w aromacie. Zbyt duzo octu, przechodzi to w nuty owocwe, ale troche zbyt to intensywne. Bardzo ciekawe, ale zbyt octowe. Ciezko mi skonczyc to piwo, ten ocet tak meczy, chyba cos tu nie zagralo.

Just an incredible beer with so much flavour, depth and just anything that is good. Quite sweet and vinegar ish in flavour. A must try beer!

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2017 Pourss ruby red with medium head. Aroma: horse blanket and a bitnof funkiness, but also oak and red fruit. Taste: incredibly well balanced between sourness and malty sweetness, nice funk in the back.

The beer has an average appereance, ruby brown in color with a quickly dissipating head. The aroma is full of vinegary sourness mingled with red fruits and some dried fruits as well. Gorgeous and inviting. The taste is amazing, the first sip is mouth-puckering sour, but you quickly get used to that. Sweet like red and dried fruits, vinegary. Somehow there’s something that reminds me of marcipan. The finish is a lingering sourness, not to heavy, with that sweetnes coming in as a perfect balance. All in all, on the best beers I’ve ever had!!
