Vanilla fudge and fruity, also malty in aroma. Fairly simple malty taste. Simple strong belgian ale. Tasty sipper.
250ml bottle (?) - BB201203, Drunk 201202
On pouring a little fruity, but it’s mashier and almondy in the glass, aroma-wise. Pale gold, small tight head. Crisp palate for its strength. More almondy retronasals, a little winey, and woody. Quite dry, some walnut papers too. Upon swallowing there’s a hint of its strength, but it’s not boozy, just a little volatile. Finish is dry and a little bit bitter and hoppy - pleasant full hops, but dry and old woody nutty ones, not aromatic at all. Initially quite thin in the mouth, but it fills out as it warms, and as the bitterness builds up. I feel that this is better than I remember it, but don’t feel the need to bump it up numerically. Maybe I overrated it before, and now the same score’s an underrate, so on average I’m spot on. Pretty solid, but moderately dull belgian blond.
Bottle, 25cl. It pours a clear, sparkling golden body, topped by a white, creamy head of gigantic proportions. The head lasts and leaves lacings. The nose is on the fruity side, with canned fruits, some banana, a gentle spicy touch and some resiny hops. It’s qute effervescent in the mouth, full-bodied and slightly warming. It has flavors of banana and ripe, yellow apples, some spices and a fine bitterness. It finishes quite bitter, with some resin and sweetness too. There’s not much Christmas in this beer, at least not in my book, but it’s a fine beer, well suited for the colder days. Would probably do fine on a late summer evening too, before bed time. I think I sampled this from bottle at Kerstbierfestival Essen (Belgium) 2010. Clear golden color, small white head. Smell malts and spices, not really nice. Tastes less spicy and more bitter. Nicely balanced, firm carbo and a medium to full body. Useful beer. Dedollewaitor (16544) - Odense, DENMARK - NOV 29, 2008
25cl bottle @ VinensVerden, Odense. Pours clear golden with a frothy lasting egg white head & lacings. Nose is sweet, yeasty & fruity. Citrus, lemon & slightly metallic. Mouhfeel is medium & smooth. Dry fruity & grainy flavor. Well made but perhaps a little boring! OK MiP (16055) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - DEC 17, 2004
Bottle. Slight bonbon aroma. Slightly darker than yellow colour, small white head. Not far from a cheap German lager.

Bottle from a multi-pack with a glass at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is fruity and herbal - yet making me think of seafood. Med + body. Flavor is herbal, yeast, lightly metallic. Sort of crisp. If one appreciates the ales on the shoulders of the bell curve, this is it! It’s rather dry, somewhat hoppy, and fitting my taste range. Bottled 330ml from Beermerchants of Kent. Gold with white head. There is a sweet, candy aroma which follows on into the beer, barley sugar mixed with pear drops. There is a strong Belgian yeast character, hints of banana essence and light herbs. Nothing really Christmassy about this but okay. gunnfryd (15493) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUL 23, 2009

Bottle at home. Clear golden - big white head. Light malty, pilsner malty, swetness, sharpness, spicy, coriander, alcoholic, grainy, light caramel, light syeasty, high bitterness. OK !!
