Hard to believe that this beer is made by the same folks that made Duchesse. Aroma’s mild, malt, yeast and a little caramel. Flavor’s ok, not much sign of the traditional Belgian signature. Ok enough. Bottle was a gift from friend Anthony thanks man.

was this a german beer? it sure felt like it. i expected something a little more flavorful and good for a Belgian, but oh well. it would be a solid Weihnachtsbier. golden and clear with a white head. standard german flavor and aroma.

Last brew of the year, gotta get the Christmas stuff out! Also I think number 200 for this year. Nice even number, if a bit low by my usual standards. But hey, 2016 pretty much sucked in a lot of ways, so maybe that is appropriate. In any case, clear gold, nice head. Sweet honey malt aroma, very faint musk. Flavor is malt forward with a focus on the honey notes of the pale malts. Sweetish, with a balancing bitterness on the finish. When cold, it almost comes across like a maibock. As it warms, some of the Belgian yeast character begins to make itself known with a very light musty note of phenol. Not totally my thing, but not bad.

Bottle into a tulip. Pours a clear amber, with a medium white head. Nose is ginger and yeast. Taste is dry, with some sweetness and spice flavor. OK

330 ml bottle poured into a chalice. The beer is a lighter gold color with a white head of foam. Good retention. The aroma has ginger and clove notes with a supporting doughy bread note. Taste is more sweet than spice. Medium body and higher carbonation.

Bottle at home. Clear pale yellow with a white head. Aroma medium malty (bread) and hoppy. Flavor medium sweet, light fruity, medium bitter. Medium body.

Bottled 330ml from Beermerchants of Kent. Gold with white head. There is a sweet, candy aroma which follows on into the beer, barley sugar mixed with pear drops. There is a strong Belgian yeast character, hints of banana essence and light herbs. Nothing really Christmassy about this but okay.

Sweet candy like aroma, raisin, Belgian yeast spice Pours a light Amber color with small disappearing off white head. Sweet candy like flavor raisin and prune, light Belgian spice. Medium full bodied, sticky, medium co2, lingering sweetness in finish. Enjoyable beer. A bit on the sweet side. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
