You get what youd expect based on the rest of their offerings. Its not a revolutionary raspberry Berliner or anything. Its a mildly tart fruit beer in the classic brewpub tradition. Like most of the rest of their offerings it will be plenty satisfying to the palate of someone who just wants a deviation from the American pale lager but nowhere near what a modern craft drinker hopes for. This place will probably stick around for a long time but you wish theyd really go for something bolder.

Keg at Vermont Pub & Brewery, Burlington. Clear copper red, miniscule head. Aroma of raspberry jam. Sweet with medium body and clean mouthfeel. Raspberries and strawberries. Not much else. Low bitterness. Not much going for it.

On tap @ Vermont Pub & Brewery. Clear red beer with a soapy off-white head. A lot of raspberry syrup here, thats kind of what this beer is for the most part. A bit of grass, some sweet fruit punch, and berry jam. Its really one-way traffic here: sweet fruit syrup and soda. Its fine enough. Probably the best of the beers we ordered.

On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy dark amber, almost pink color. Nice frothy white head. Slow dissipation. The smell had some tart cherries, semi-sweet yet sour. Underscore of citrus. Sweet to sour grapes. The taste was mainly the same bringing together the tart and the sweet and the sour. Citrus to sour cherry aftertaste. Semi-smooth wet sour cherry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light. Sour harshness hits my tongue just right. Overall, fruit beer or sour beer, doesnt really matter too much to me as Id say this was very good and Im sure to come back to.

New England Bucket List Trip #131. Keg at the brewpub. Pours a clear vibrant red with a thin fizzy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of tart raspberry, concord grapes, pale malt. The taste is spice, tart raspberry, concord grapes, pale malt. Medium bodied, lingering tartness.

Pours a light pinkish gold with a small white ring. Aroma is raspberry and light grain. Taste is more raspberry juice than anything funky. Tiny oak characteristics provide dryness.

[5286-20130428] Tap. Raspberry juice aroma has a light straw background. Clear, bright red body with a quick foamy white pink head. Raspberry fruity yeast flavour has a lightly soured cherry note initially. Medium body. Refreshing, drinkable. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2

First off, if your drinking it now, Im jealous. You cant get it anywhere but in the Vermont pub and brewery. I fell in love with sour mash beers there. The moment they set it in front of you, you can tell its something special. Its raspberry red color is inviting. The nose is a blast of fresh raspberries and hint of oak from the casks. So smooth and refreshing, it screams beautiful summer days in burlington. At 6.2 percent, its like a beautiful woman who loves you then tears your heart out. Cheers.
