On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown to black with a medium sized lightly tanned beige head. Really nice smoke up front, hints of roast and malt behind it. Medium bodied, light coffee and roast with touches of plums before the smoke takes over. Lots of smoke, following through to a long campfire finish. Nicely done.

on tap-pours a brown head and black color. Aroma is molasses-dark malt, wood/roasty/smoky, acidic hops. Taste is chocolate/cocoa-dark malt, wood/roasty/smoky, some earthy hops. Dry. Medium body.

Lubiere (13941) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 13, 2009
A deep dark stout with a thin lacing moka head. A very plesant peatty chocolate aroma, with light coffee. In mouth, a lightly smoked stout with light sugar, still dry. Light bodied. Tasted at brewpub, Nov. 29, 2008, with Sponge.

Deep dark brown/black beer. Aroma is great. Lots of rich cocoa and a nice dark chocolate nose. Fairly hoppy and roasty bitterness on the back. Well-balanced with a bit of toasted malt and even a bit of smoke. Nice stout.

From my long lost notes. On tap at the brewpub October, 2003. Served in a pint glass. Pours black with a thin tan head. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Flavor is again roasted malt and coffee with a bit of chocolate as well. Some light biteerness at the finish. Thin mouthfeel, particularly for a stout.

Well balanced flavor, complex. A little thin for my taste as a stout. Medium to full body and slightly bitter

Looks can be deceiving. I had this recently hand pulled and it looked promising, Very dark color, little carbonation, white creamy head. The flavor was WAY too smokey which covered an otherwise weak malt and hop flavor. Nothing here but texture and look. Disappointing to say the least.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2007 Bu au pub en 2005. Probablement la meilleur des trois que j’ai bu là durant mes vacances. Très bon goût de malt roti et de cacao 70%.

In a word, dry, bitter and black. Too carbonated, a bit mediocre for style. A Somewhat burnt and roasted, nutty, thinish mouthfeel. Certainly dry. Some coffee, all not holding greatly together. But quaffable and better than most of the offerings here.

Pours dark brown with a tan ring. Smells of chocolate, toffee, coffee. Tastes of coffee, nutty, milk chocolate and a hint of figs. Finish is flat but sweet.
