On cask Feb 2008: Pours an opaque black with a pillowy well-lacing froth of tan head. Aroma of sweet dark malts and some good smoky notes and roasty dark chocolate. Body starts fairly full and dark malty sweet with some dark fruity notes and good salty smoky balance. A well-made and enjoyable smoked stout.

VTHopHead (1511) - Seymour, Tennessee, USA - MAR 8, 2009
Draft at the brewpub - Poured a very dark black/brown in color with a creamy tan head that stuck around and provided some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is strong of dark roasted malts, chocolate and much less of coffee/espresso with the smokiness present, but not overpowering. Flavor is roasty and bitter with a quite delicious smokiness that reminded me of smoked cheddar or Gouda. An excellent stout and the smoke only adds to it.

Sampled at brewpub. Pours black with a small tan head and has nice lacing. Aroma is rich and malty with liquid hickory smoke and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is creamy and smooth with smoked roasted malts, coffee and some notes of dark chocolate with a medium body and a dry finish. Decent brew

20080730 Tap at brewpub. Maybe it was the day because I did not really taste much smoke in the cheddar, either. Anyway, it was a good enough stout with nice dry palate and chicory aromas. This is the beer I got a pint of after the sampler was done.

Lubiere (14110) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 5, 2008
A deep dark stout with a thick moka head. A lightly smoked aroma, a bit of bacon, and light chocolate fudge. In mouth, alight powdery chocolate wiht light peaty notes. A very decent smoked stout. On tap at brewpub, July 20, 2008.

Quevillon (3143) - Boisbriand, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 28, 2008
