This enchanting beer is brewed at the edge of the Ardennes. From this regoin of magic and withcraft comes a legend...
Sorcerers are always ugly and old. But in our forest of Fagnes, it is said wanders a blonde sorceress of fatal beauty. If, at the edge of a wood, a sensual voice taunts you, you must raise your left elbow and drink your beer in a single gulp. If you fail, her azure gaze will consume you in a thousand fires.

Dominique Thonnard makes all the Vervifontaine beers using converted dairy equipment in a small brewery. These are impressive, big beers, with a wealth of flavor and character.

An unclear light yellow beer with a fine dense head. The aroma is very hoppy with notes of banana and coriander. The flavor is very dry with strong notes of flowers and sweetness and enourmous amounts of hops. A very special beer.

(Bottle 33 cl) Comes as "Bière des Fagnes blonde". Pale blond, very hazy with huge, floating impurities and a gigantic, thick and quite stable head. Has the typical sulphurous edge so often found in Belgian blond ales. Lots of fruit in the nose with a dry and very aromatic hoppy finish. 090202

Bottled. Muddy pale orange with rich, lively head. Intense orange and pine needle aroma. Sweet and honeyish, medium bodied. Richly hoppy with lingering bitterness. An odd & interesting little beer.

Hazy golden color, with a monumental head. Wonderful aroma: malt, hops, honey, coriander, fruits... Good malt, velvety, with a hint of sweet liquorice at the end, mature. A very good strong ale.

Hazy golden/orange, nice head. Aroma from grapefruit, citrus and yeast. Flavor is sourish with some grapefruit and citrus, but also with sweeter notes. Quite fresh.

330ml bottle (One Pint Pub, Helsinki, Belgian Beer Weeks 2004) Deep yellow, large tight creamy head, floaty bits. Sweet, spicey and hoppy aroma. Taste is predominantly hoppy bitter, but in a really pleasant way, not harsh at all. Don’t drink in a single gulp, that’s just silly.

Big frothy head that lasts. Golden color, just a bit hazy. Hoppy, citric, creamy aroma. Medium bodied. Sweetish but very hoppy, oily and herbal flavor with citrus, especially grapefruit. Long hoppy citric flavor. Very well made beer.

Bottled: Muddy yellow coloured. Off white lasting head. Yeast, citrus and some spices in the aroma. Flowery, alcahol, spicy and citric flavour. Rather complex. Grassy in the end with some alcahol burnt.

This is dark orange with a large foamy head. Aromas are spicy, fresh and citrus. A good beer that is hoppy and resfreshing and somewhat like Duvel - which is high praise.
