Rich mahogany, brief head as served, a doughy head was pullable later. Slightly vinegary sour aroma, woody and sweetish, classic flemish feel. Masively sharp bite in the mouth, carbonation also quite high. Full and vapoury, heady in a sour way. Some parafin in the taste, but othewise woody and sour. Characterful red sour, but only for lovers of real sourness.

Piana sycząca, od razu znika do zera. Barwa mocnej herbaty, klarowna. Aromat kwaskowy, wiśniowy, porzeczkowy, winny, jest odrobina starej beczki, octu balsamicznego... W smaku powtůrka, jest dość kwaśne, lekko cierpkie, winne, taniczne, beczkowe. Mineralność w posmaku. Wysycenie średnie, szczypiące.
Fajne, orzeźwiające, wyraźnie kwaśne piwo, aczkolwiek jakiejś goryczki czy wyczuwalnego chmielenia, jak sugerowałaby nazwa, nie wyczułem.

Craft Beer Advent Calendar (Day 20) 330ml bottle pours a deep amber brown color with a finger and a half of light beige head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is red wine grapes and caramel with some hints of dark fruit (possibly cherry). Taste is a cherry? sourness with a caramel malty sweetness and a red wine grape dryness in the finish. Light to medium bodied with nice carbonation that tickles the tongue. Overall, a nicely done brew that I recommend for others to sample.

Amber-brown. No head. The aroma shows a little bit of woody tartness. Moderate tartness, some berry, some wood, has a nice vinous character. This isnít a bad version, moderate tartness and some berries. But all told a good example.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out tart dark fruits, especially cherries, and balsamic. Flavour is simple, with quite bracingly tart cherries, some other random dark fruits, and balsamic. Finishes fairly acetic, with little depth. Nothing special and pretty weak for the style.

On tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, pours a clear amber with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out loads of oaky wood barrels, light tart fruits, and light smoke. Flavour is very oaky and woody, with lightly tart dark fruits. Medium complexity, with a dry, oaky finish. Solid oud bruin.

330 ml bottle from 2016 Craft Beer Advent Calendar, into tulip. Pour is hazy chestnut brown with small fizzy head, no retention, a few spots on side of glass. Aroma is a very big complex panoply of sourness, malt, strawberries, faint bubblegum, vinegar, wood shop, old sewing machine. Taste is more sourness and strawberries, some sweet too but strangely not cloying. Iím not getting hops. Fizzy, burpy (more bubblegum, but not in a bad way). Mid to light body, dry finish. Very effervescent. This is more than just a beer. It is a place.

Pours a cloudy red/brown, with medium-low carbonation. The hops are subdued, despite what they say. But the sourness is spot on, very lactic acid-like. Complemented well by the fruity oakiness. All around well made sour. 2016 advent calendar.

Appearance: clear deep amber with a short beige head diminishing to a thin ring, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: vinous red fruit, green apples, oak, umame. (9/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-high tart. (9/10) Palate: medium-light body, moderate carbonation, lingering tart and gently warming finish. (4/5) Advent day #20 (first day of winter!) brings one of my favourite styles, the Oud Bruin (Flanders Brown). Iím fairly sure this is actually just a slightly renamed version of their Oud Bruin, but I havenít had that one, so I could be wrong. Certainly, Iím not getting a lot of hops, so I donít know how relevant the name is. This is a nice beer, but thatís hardly surprising given their founders include a former head brewer of Omer Vanderghinste, a former employee of De Proef Brouwerij, and a former employee of Van Honsebrouck and New Belgium - a fairly impressive pedigree, to say the least. This beer reminds me of Rodenbach, or maybe Vichtenaar, and definitely tends more to the tart than the more traditional sweet and funky like Duchesse de Bourgogne. Still within spec for the style, but at the sour end of the scale, if you will. Itís actually so sour that I canít tell if thereís any bitterness or not - but if there is, itís low. I like this a lot. (17/20)
