Idiosynkrasie (7533) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - OCT 31, 2016
375ml bottle [Editie 2014, "Experimenteel" on the back label, though]. Almost clear, brown-ish ruby colour with average, thick, fluffy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Tart-ish, minimally spicy, vinegar aroma, hints of sherbet, a minimally soapy touch, sourish hints of morello cherry, minimally oaky and leathery overtones. Taste is dry, sourish, fruity, notes of morello cherry, vinegar, a touch of fresh oak. Monotonous, restricted, slightly agressive acidity.

islay (2764) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 30, 2016
12.7 oz. bottle, consumed on 10-30-16. “EXP. 29/06/23,” presumably meaning it was bottled on 6-29-23 and therefore consumed at approximately 3 and 1/3 years old. Labeled as “Brouwers Verzet Oud Bruin Editie 2013 Flemish Red Brown Ale.” Pours a hazy, dark amber, almost maroon. Nice color but no head, just a few bubbles on the side of the glass. Chocolate scent first, then strawberries or raspberries, then a nice, sophisticated, deep sourness follows. Bread dough. Smells good. Quite tart. Lemon juice and balsamic vinegar. Some caramel and strawberry in the flavor. Metallic finish. No carbonation, sadly, and that ruins the palate. I think it also makes the good flavor seem more simplistic than it should. Light to medium body. I think this could have been a quite tasty and enjoyable sour if the carbonation hadn’t seeped out over the last 3.33 years. As it is, it’s a proverbial drain pour. I’ll cook with all but the first few ounces. By the way, I don’t think I’ve ever given such a low overall score to a beer with such a high flavor score.

Bue en buteille de 37,5cl. Couleur brune, reflets rougeâtres. Fine mousse beige clair. Nez boisé et fruits rouges. Palais équilibré, acide, corpulence moyenne, CO2 faible. Ensemble harmonieux et agréable. Notes de prunes, de fruits rouges. Boisé.

3.9
jbruner (4745) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - OCT 15, 2016
Pours a slightly hazy golden brown from the bottle with bubbly off-white head that leaves light lace. Aroma of tart acidity, musty oak, and dark fruitiness. Taste follows, mild funk but mostly the acidity and dark Belgian esters. A Belgian brewery doing the American take on a Belgian style, interesting, solid.

3.4
djoeye (4605) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 15, 2016
Aroma; big fruit bowl, fruit yeast, caramels, spices, sweetness. Look; misty red-brown dark body with good fawn dense head on. Taste; powerful sour berries, redcurrant, acid, semi dry tart, juicy stuff - fading nice finish. Feel; clean, direct, sour juicy, a bit fizzy. Overall; powerful lemonade.
