BB 19.12.2025. brown lightly reddish clear color, medium off-white head. smells wood, nutty, marzipan, acidic, hints of vinegar, light cherry notes, light funky, bit musty. very lovely smell. medium to full body, soft carbonation, rather light mouthfeel. tastes citric, acidic, lightly vinegarish, some wood, green apples, nutty, marzipan, bit herbal, some cherry notes, some funk. finishes light to medium sour with notes of wood, green apples and some nuts. quite nice one, maybe carbonation a bit too obvious and also a tad too sour, but quite nice stuff overall.

Bottled from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Dark brown colored, small brown head. Powerful lambic nose, wood, tartness, fruit. Very sour flavor, lambic, wood, fruit, balsamic vinegar. Lasting sour finish. Much more lambic like than classic Oud Bruin. Very nice stuff.

Bottle - Dark cherry notes. Deep clearish amber brown with a head that disapates immediately. Touch of acidic and light cherry notes. The nose is better than the taste

Bottle - Vintage 2013 - Sour cherry and light balsamic. Cloudy copper brown with a rich light brown head. Tart acidic and cherry with a nice soured malt balsamic finish. A little on acidic side, but still quite nice.

Pours hazy dark amber-copper with little off white head. Short head retention, some little lacing. Tart, caramel, some dry aftertaste.

330 ml bottle at home. Day 20 of the craft beer advent calendar. Pours cloudy red with slight beige head. Smells like red fruit wine. Tastes sour. Very tart finish. This is one of the better sour beers I've had.

Draught at BBP in Brussels, thanks Ster! I had the original version of this when it was just conceived and had no idea that this is another entry so I’m rating this ’official’ version from memory. Deep and warm, coppery burgundy colour with an egg-white head, loose but moussy, leaving dots of lacing. Strong but authentically ’oud bruin’ aroma of passion fruit, unripe blue plum, caramel, sweet sherry, sharp redcurrant and other sour berries, red wine vinegar, walnut. Very fruity, estery onset, some red apple and passion fruit but much more so a tart, almost vinegary and unripe berry-like sourness drying the rest of the palate; caramelly and lightly bready malt backbone underneath, but, like the Vineyard and Cherry versions, a bit on the thin side to support the very outspoken sourness; tannic wood dryness in the end, further accentuating how thoroughly dry this beer is, in spite of the redeeming sweeter caramelly malt notes. In order to become a truly great oud brown - in the league of the great classics made by Rodenbach or Verhaeghe - I think this needs to tune down a bit on its acidity, but that does not take away the fact that it is remarkable how this brewery set out to revive a waning beer style and have managed to put their own, bone dry stamp on it.

Bottle into snifter. Pours a reddish brown with a little tan head the disappears quick. Aroma is winey with some sour fruitiness. Taste is about the same.

Rich mahogany, brief head as served, a doughy head was pullable later. Slightly vinegary sour aroma, woody and sweetish, classic flemish feel. Masively sharp bite in the mouth, carbonation also quite high. Full and vapoury, heady in a sour way. Some parafin in the taste, but othewise woody and sour. Characterful red sour, but only for lovers of real sourness.

Piana sycząca, od razu znika do zera. Barwa mocnej herbaty, klarowna. Aromat kwaskowy, wiśniowy, porzeczkowy, winny, jest odrobina starej beczki, octu balsamicznego... W smaku powtórka, jest dość kwaśne, lekko cierpkie, winne, taniczne, beczkowe. Mineralność w posmaku. Wysycenie średnie, szczypiące.
Fajne, orzeźwiające, wyraźnie kwaśne piwo, aczkolwiek jakiejś goryczki czy wyczuwalnego chmielenia, jak sugerowałaby nazwa, nie wyczułem.
