seriously? 44? are you kidding? Sampled at the source, dark coulor, very cloudy, smells of dough and a bit fruity. Appearance perfect for the style! Very tasty, medium sweetness, a bit heavy palate, easily one of the best dunkler weizen I´ve tasted

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2008 Had this on 06-07-07 on draft at Vetters in Heidelberg from a liter mug. Cloudy brown pour with a 2 finger foamy tan head. Smells of Wheat, chocolate and citrus. Citrus, wheat, chocolate, banana, and a little grass to taste initially. Much the same on the aftertaste. Great creamy full palate and nice light carbonation. Enjoyed with some boiled Bavarian sausages. Easily the best dunkelweizen I’ve had.

Enjoyed on tap while eating the best Bratwurst of a recent trip to the Baden-Wurttemberg region of Germany, of course at Vettrs in Heidelberg on a beautiful mid 70s day. I didn’t take notes during this one, but I remember it being pretty good. Standard dark cloudy brown appearance, taste went down a little too quickly. Good good stuff.

Fincsi, ízre talán a legjobb Vettel. Nagyon ízletes, igazi egyéniség. 5 csillagos.

Pours two fingers of head on a cloudy dark straw body. The aroma is barnyard and nutty. The taste is balanced mild bitterness with a tame sweet note. The texture is smooth. That is a nicely balanced dunkel.

(1L bottle from brauhaus) Cloudy amber body with a thick off white head. Much much more yeasty than any other dunkelweizen I’ve ever had. The yeast flavor kind of reminds me of a belgian beer so this weizen is different. Smell is big yeast with some banana and clove. Taste is the same with good wheat notes. Enjoyable but not typical in my opinion.

(draught) murky dark brown colour with a creamy dark beige head. aroma of toasted grainy malts, coffee, wheat and a touch of yeast. flavour is the same, with dry toasted grain in the foreground, followed by some herbal hops. medium body with smooth carbonation. nice and dry.

50cl draught at Vetter’s Heidelberg. Very cloudy brownish colour with a thick nice off-white head that persists. Aroma is roasted malts and banana notes. Medium to low carbonation and full body. Flavour is a bit sweet with light bitterness and with a dry and long finish. Overall, a very nice beer in a unique place with a very good food to associate with it.
