COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Viborg Imperial Stout brewed in the English style like those that were originally exported to the Russian market. The stout we brew here at Viborg bryghus is black, full. We use round handed amounts of peat smoked malt and English licorice. The full flavor and the high alcohol make this a beer for gents and real stout enthusiasts. It’s hand brewed by the use of a gas kettle and open fire, and provides the pronounced caramel flavor. Top fermented and cellared in 4 weeks. We recommend it to accompany lamb, ox, sausages and dark chocolate.

Bottled @ Aarhus beerfestival 2008. Aroma has chocolate, licorice, some coffee and roast. Black coloured wth an offwhite head. Taste is sweet with some bitterness. Hints of blackcurrant and licorice. Coffee, roast and Chocolate. Straightforward and decent.

1 år efter sidste salgsdag: Sødlig og ristet malt, brun farin, let "sprittet" whiskey. Medium fylde, men i den tynde ende for Imperial Stout. Har måske været bedre? - men i så fald ikke god at gemme.

caesar (7133) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 24, 2008
Bottled @ Aarhus beerfestival 2008. Dark opaque color, short head. Nice roasted malty aroma, coffee, licorice, chocolat. Bitter taste, dark chocolat. Good straightforward stuff actually.

0.5 l bottle. Black color with creamy tan head. Sweetish aroma with coffee, licorice, charcoal and hint of barnyard. Sweet coffeish and cola like flavor with notes of licorice and alcohol warmt. Too sweet.

Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 7, 2008
Red-black colored with little light brown head. Strong roasted coffee aroma with almost too much sweetness. Medium bodied. Flavor also starts with strong sweetness, roastiness and some berries also here. Well, could be better with not this much sweetness.

Ølfestival, Horsens, DK On tap Alcoholic but a nice malty sweetness balances it very well. Liqourice, coffee and chocolate

bottled. black with a light foam, which fast dissapears.aroma is: liqorice and smoke. taste is heavy and filled of whiskey, smoke, liqorice and light mokka. ends with a nice bitterness. strange stout, first impression was a BW!

Christian (13670) - Odense, DENMARK - MAR 26, 2008
Black with a light brown semi-lasting head. First aroma is of candy licorice, then comes a smoked note and a little fruit, chocolate and peat/medicine. Sweetish and slightly sour dark malt flavour with distinct peat. Alcohol and sweetness in a strange finish. But if you like Islay whisky, this is a must-try beer.

Bottled (thanks Papsoe!). Hazy dark brown colour, quite close to black. Head was pale brown, and didn’t last for too long. Aroma is fruity along with chocolate and roasted malts. Flavour is smoked and roasted malts along with some weird sticky sweetness of fruits and alcohol. Some mild notes of licorice as it warms up. the sweetness in this one messes it up for me, otherwise it could have been really good.
