UPDATED: OCT 24, 2006 On tap at the brewery: Amazing Imperial Stout. Enormeous amounts of roasted malts, coffee, chocolat and moccha. Mixed with fine Scottish whiskey in a excellent balance. All those who rated this on the bottle should re-rate I guess. I bought a couple of bottles as well. Hopefully they aren’t as disappointing as the others. Bottled, horizontal session: What a difference! The balance is gone, all the exploding mocca and whiskey are gone. What a pity. Leaves a complex but little unbalanced average beer without any resemblance to a Imperial Stout. Strange. Dalle (1145) - Skørping, DENMARK - JUL 27, 2006
UPDATED: SEP 3, 2006 Tap at the brewhouse. Black with dense brown head. Thick! Malt and english liqourice dominant, whiff of smoke, delisciously hopped (american hops?), relatively low alcohol profile compared to 10.5% abv. A well balanced and very good imperial stout - the best danish one Ive had so far. Bottle; not as good as the tap version - head formation and mouthfeel noteably worsened, aroma and flavor still very agreeable but somehow not as balanced. Same beer?, different batch? 500 ml bottle, batch 22, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 8.0%. Pitch black colour, big to moderate tan head. Moderate but nice aroma of roasted malts, notes of coffee, hints of liquorice and smoke. Full and rich mouthfeel. The flavour is fairly sweet and malty, roasty notes of course, some caramel, tar, coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice and smoke again - but not quite as much peat smoke as expected, and that’s quite alright with me. A lovely drop! EHSRanders (2088) - Tjele, DENMARK - OCT 9, 2010
