COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Translated from the Dutch on the brewery website.
Brewing process: Vicaris Generaal is made in three stages like the Tripel: warm fermentation at around 24°C, lagering at approximately 1°C and secondary fermentation in the bottle. The only difference between them is that the Tripel is brewed with one malt variety and Generaal with three. Vicaris Generaal is also brewed without spices.

- Ingredients: water, malt, sugar, hops and yeast.

- Tasting notes: Vicaris Generaal (8.8% ABV) is a red-brown warm fermented beer with a beautiful tinted head, conditioned in both bottle and keg. Generaal will mature in the bottle and is for the experienced beer lover. Generaal has a marked bitterness obtained by using roasted malt and hops. It is not a sweet beer.
- Available in 330ml and 750ml bottles and 30l kegs.

Note: Brewed by De Proef before their brewery opened in 2011.

Tasted on 1/27/13 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle from the Rare Beer Club. Pours a very dark mahogany color with a very thick beige head that slowly recedes to super thick and rocky lace. The nose is malty but dry with cocoa nibs, some chocolate, cola, and vanilla. The flavor is the same, very dry with the cola notes up front, moving to the toasted cocoa nibs and a nice dose of roasted bitterness. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a long cola and bitter roasted finish.

Meni krasno pivo! :)

Dark beige creamy full lasting head. Brown colour. Aroma is malty with fruity notes (raisins, prunes and dried fruits). Flavor is malty too with fruity (prunes) tones, ending in a moderately fruity and slightly spicy finish. Medium bodied.

Faberanza (17) - Torino, ITALY - NOV 9, 2017

FireGlider (717) - Zagreb, CROATIA - OCT 25, 2017
Hazy dark amber color with big foamy head. Caramel, malt and dark fruits. Light fruity sweetness. Quite balanced, but flavor is too light. Needs some stronger flavor. This feels like watching something far away. You can see it, but you can't really be sure what it is.

nathanvc (796) - Brugge, BELGIUM - AUG 28, 2017
At Brugs Beertje, Bruges. Pours hazy dark brown with a lasting, foamy, tan head. The aroma contains caramel, roasted malt, bread & yeast, dark chocolate, dark fruits, alcohol, hops and herbs. It tastes medium chocolatey and caramel-like sweet and medium herbal bitter with a dry, warming, alcoholic finish. Full body, oily/sticky texture, fizzy carbonation. A great Abbey Dubbel; well done by Dilewyns.

Good Belgian Dubbel, dark, complex, rich in taste, among the better if its kind.

Dark, beige foam. Balanced, slight roasted sweetness. A bit estery and with some subdued bitterness.
