Translated from the Dutch on the brewery website.
Brewing process: Vicaris Generaal is made in three stages like the Tripel: warm fermentation at around 24°C, lagering at approximately 1°C and secondary fermentation in the bottle. The only difference between them is that the Tripel is brewed with one malt variety and Generaal with three. Vicaris Generaal is also brewed without spices.

- Ingredients: water, malt, sugar, hops and yeast.

- Tasting notes: Vicaris Generaal (8.8% ABV) is a red-brown warm fermented beer with a beautiful tinted head, conditioned in both bottle and keg. Generaal will mature in the bottle and is for the experienced beer lover. Generaal has a marked bitterness obtained by using roasted malt and hops. It is not a sweet beer.
- Available in 330ml and 750ml bottles and 30l kegs.

Note: Brewed by De Proef before their brewery opened in 2011.

Bottle, 0.33l. Deep ruby pour two finger frothy beige head, thick and long lasting, leaving really nice lacing on the glass. Malty nose, loads of caramel and toffee, sweetish, flowery background. Medium body, soft to medium carbonation. Thick texture, really pleasant mouthfeel, very smooth. Sweet taste with very subtle bitterness towards the finish. Aroma of caramel, toffee and brown sugar. Bready, yeasty. Notes of chocolate. Flowery. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. Nicely balanced, well hidden alcohol. Overall, really nice dubbel. Rich and tasty, one to enjoy slowly.

Foffern (2117) - Bodø, NORWAY - MAR 4, 2018
Bottle at Hundholmen, Bodø. Pours a hazy brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma of fudge, coffee, bread, chocolate, phenols and raisins. Sweet flavour with dried fruit, chocolate, coffee, bread crust, nuts, leather and some alcohol. Has a slick mouth feel, medium to full body and a light bitterness. Malty and sweet but unbalanced flavour. Aging will help this beer.

Meni krasno pivo! :)
