Bottle from Dranken Verheyen in Poppel Belgium. The beer is dark brown colored and has a large creamy head with nice carbonation. The aroma is malty and fruity with notes of roasted malts and dark fruits, also caramel and dark fruits, licorice, yeast, spices and a little alcohol. The taste is full bodied and sweet with caramel and licorice but also roasted malts, and then comes a light bitterness with yeast and spices. Finish is warming alcohol and spices, a little dry and light bitter. Nice beer!

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, wood, dark fruit, chocolate, bread, roasted malts and spices.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque ruby/dark brown beer with heavy yeast and with a slight/medium beige head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, wood, dark fruit and chocolate; ends slightly bitter and dry with bread, roasted malts and spices.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Had the pleasure to have the 2014 version and it was amazing. So much roasted malts for a Belgian Ale. Great at everything, but even more so in terms of flavour.

2015, on draft (seriously) in Maine. This tastes like waking up on Christmas morning and eating breakfast. It tastes like rum raisin bread. It tastes like sweet, molasses-covered Christmas pudding. It’s big, decadent, and a treat this time of year.

2015. Donkerbruin, bijna zwart bier met beige schuim. Geur: mout, fruitig, kandij. Smaak: zoet, noterig, zoethout, licht bittertje. Goede koolzuurprikkel. Redelijk volmondig. Afdronk: wat plakkerig zoet. Lekkere winter warmer.

Hyvin tummanruskea, kirkas olut kohtalaisella vaahdolla, jota jää pieni reunus nauttimisen ajaksi.

T: chocolate malt, dark dried fruits, plums, cherries, coffee, dark chocolate, raisins, cinnamon, caramel, molasses, vinous, very sweet but good balanced with full body, lower carbonation, worth to try, winter 2014, 0,33l bottle from Maenhout supermarket in Oostende.

750 ml bottle, Vicaris Winter 2015 from Pacific Liquor on sale $5.99. Dark brown pour with slight khaki head, no lacing. Nice aromas of raisin, plum, caramel, brown sugar, some vinous character. Good balance of sweet, spicy, fruity, low bitterness, very rich and good mouthfeel, warming alcohol, full body. A nice holiday beer or winter warmer, recommended.

2015 edition. Dark brown body with a medium offwhite head. Dark dried fruits, chocolate notes, warming alcohol, raisins, prunes, spices. It reminds me of a traditional danish christmas dinner - duck, prunes, thick brown gravy. Delicious.

Bottle at home, 2014 ed. Very dark reddish brown colour, beautifully stable and creamy beige head. Lots of chocolate and dried fruits, spices like clove and nutmeg, liquorice, some vinous tones (aging?), alcohol is well hidden. Finish is quite dry, bitter. Lingering bitter sweet aftertaste. Gets more sweet as it warms, with some red fruits and more vinous tones. Incredibly smooth mouthfeel, soft, low carbonation, big body.

Reddish brown, minimal head. Aroma has some malts. Full body taste,, medium bitterness, a bit short finish. Nice but a bit overrated.
