3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On draft, poured into a pint glass..orange/gold with fluffy white head..aroma of lemon,pine,florals..taste kinda malty with some hop bitterness...sub par.
Pours hazy dark copper with a substantial buff head. Aroma features tart apple, fresh malt, caramel and subtle hoppy tones. Flavor delights the palate by dragging apple, malt, hoppy, and shy caramel tones across the tongue. Apple in the flavor is more sweet and less tart than in the aroma. Mouthfeel offers fair body and fizz. This ale has your number. corby112 (2813) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 19, 2015
Pours a slightly hazy dark golden copper color with apricot colored edges and a two finger frothy, off-white head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Very good retention, taking a while to settle and leaving streaks of soapy lacing in its path.
The aroma of this beer is pretty bland with a floral, perfume-like hop presence that’s countered by a sweet caramel malt backbone. Somewhat earthy and resinous with dirt/soil-like quality along with grass and pine needle but the hop presence in the nose is surprisingly weak. Sweet malt character that’s reminiscent of crystal and English malts giving off some caramel, toffee, toast and roasted nut.
On the fuller end of medium body with earthy hop bitterness that lingers over the sweet malt backbone into an astringent metallic finish. This beer starts off okay reminding me of an English bitter with some pine needle, grass and earthy soil countered by a sweet malt backbone but there’s a really unpleasant lingering chemical flavor that comes in mid-palate which continues long after the finish. Some syrupy caramel sweetness with toffee and hazelnut followed by metallic adjunct like sweetness that kind of ruins things for me. The deScription of this beer is vague but whatever it is, they shouldn’t have "dusted it off" in my opinion. DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 3, 2015
Poured into a perfect pint.
4.75 A: Clear dark orange color. Two fingers of frothy beige head. Retention is very good and plentiful lacing is left.
4.0 S: This smells pretty damn good. It has a viney, grassy caramel thing going. There’s also a good bit of citrusy orange with just a hint of lemon.
4.0 T: The taste is also very good. Grassy hops with citrusy undertones. Orange is strong with lemon, apple, and peach. Deep, complex caramel.
4.0 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Velvety richness and super smooth.
4.0 D: This is a good beer. It’s been a while since an IPA impressed me.

Brown color with chill haze, thick beige head with good retention. Aroma of earthy baking brown bread, stone fruit, dark fruit. Taste is bittersweet, earthy overripe fruit. Tasty. Very different from today’s bitter bombs or fruity IPAs. PlainsDrifter (96) - Adelphi, Maryland, USA - SEP 13, 2015

0,654 l pullo @ Ottakringer Brauerei. Sameahko sakkainen kauniin oranssisen kullanruskea. Tuoksussa makeaa hedelmää ja mallasta, karamellia. Maussa makeaa mallasta ja mäntyistä humalaa. Todella kiva tasapaino! nearbeer (5662) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - APR 9, 2015
650 ml. Pours clear copper with a lasting film of cream. Aroma is spicy orange flowers, earthy mocha, toffee and tea leaf. Tastes the same plus some hints of wood, apple and papaya. Light-medium body has low-medium carbonation and a nice balance. I love a well-executed modern take on the traditional British style and that’s what this is. ross (2146) - weddington, North Carolina, USA - DEC 31, 2014
Bottle. Orange colored pour with a white head. Smell is kind of stale, somewhat hoppy, malts.. bleh.. Taste is similar, not really something I like. Wish this one had stayed in the archives over at Victory...
