COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ivan - unusual beer brewed in a "Russian Imperial Stout" style. This is a very strong, heavy and dark top fermented beer which once was very popular in Russia. It was brewed by English brewers specifically for Tsars court during Ekaterina The Great reign. Hence the russian and imperial in the name of the style. This beer has a very high original gravity and very strong in alcohol. It is also hopped with a significant amount of hops and contains a decent amount of dark and special malts. Imperial stouts almost dissipated some time ago but during last few decades we see that it becomes more and more popular. Our version of imperial stout also contains a huge amount of dark and roasted malts plus we added a whisky malt (pitted malt from 6-row barley), pitted beer malt and special Belgian brown malt. It adds to the viscous thick taste and coffee aroma the flavours of boiler oil and creosote. Named after the greatest Russian ace of WWII. High alcohol content is masked by a complex aroma, but you should better be careful! This beer is perfectly suitable for long winter nights. It matches to chocolate desserts and BBQ meals.
EDITORs NOTE: Formerly known as "Ivan Kozhedub".

Dark brown black beer with dark beige head. Aroma is firstly pleasant chocolate and coffee, later comes something farm dung or so. This was little bit disturbing. Oily thick texture. Full body. Taste is medium bitter and sweet chocolate with smokey notes. The strong alcohol is hidden nicely. Good beer, only if the strange smell in nose.

Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, molasses, mocha, roasted malts, coffee and hops.

Appearance:
Opaque black beer with a slight/medium brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malta, caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, molasses and mocha; ends slightly/medium bitter and medium/heavy dry with roasted malts, coffee and hops.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Amazing slightly smoked Imperial Stout with loads of hops. Could have benefited from something extra added sweet ingredients, like vanilla. Insanely dry, breaking the amazing palate.

Draught. Black in color with a tan head. Peat, dark chocolatey bitterness and some light burnt vibes in aroma. Bitter chocolatey taste with some vinous notes as well. More bitter and roasted notes later on, dark chocolate and some notes of licorice in the end. Good drinkability and judging by the taste I wouldnt have guessed it to have this high abv.
