JAXSON (605) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 6, 2012
Pours a clear copper. Drank beside the other Bavarians and some of the standard pale ales, this is still very hop-forward, in fact the most singularly hoppy of the three special ones. More lingering leafy hop bitterness, the most dry and hop forward of the three. Floral, grainy but less so than Spalt and Polaris. Not quite as bright as I would have liked, I tend to appreciate balanced and brightness rather than lingering hop expression, but this is still very good.

Tap at Victory. Light copper pour, sparkling, thick head retention. Nose is nicely complex: floral, biscuity, fresh, muted white grapefruit. Mostly biscuity pils malt. Taste is spot on- rich and quenching with silkiness and softness not seen in the style hardly ever. Amazing palate. Grassy, silky, bitter. Wow. Mild alcohol presence. Killer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

MrChopin (4304) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 6, 2012
Tap at pub, tried against the Bavarian Spalt, Bavarian Polaris, and Headwaters Pale Ale. Lightest of the three, most effervescent and appealing with lingering head. A lot of leafy earth qualities, lightly floral with considerable citrus and hay, a bit of vitamin C issues. More hoppy, less dry than the Spalt, but not nearly the balance or complexity, though still quite nice, light, and well-attenuated.

1) Bavarian Spalt
2) Headwaters Pale
3) Bavarian Mandarina
4) Bavarian Polaris

clear amber white head lacing for days... grassy and light citrus aroma light pale malt... fairly lively medium body... grassy with distinct citrus notes... dries out in the finish... decent, more grassy than fruity, lacks a depth of malt that appeals to me...

DocLock (10683) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 5, 2012
Draft at Drafting Room Exton. Poured hazy dark straw with off-white head. Nose was citric, tropical, with pineapple and tangerine, and black pepper. Tasted rich, complex, with tropical fruit, black pepper, and caramel malt throughout. This is a very good IPA.

j12601 (11897) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUN 3, 2012
On tap at Earth. Pours a clear amber with a medium to large beiged white head. Light musk, dusty hops, spicy malt on the nose. Musky, grainy phenolics, grassy. Medium bodied, caramel and grain. Malt, lots of sweet toast, tropical fruit and malt. Malt leads into a slow tropical fruit bitterness on the finish.

Capa (3297) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - JUN 17, 2012
Medium amber with a white head. Aroma is light fruit with a bunch of earth, and light toasty malt. Flacks is lighter but good. Citrus, light spicy malt, some herbal. Good stuff.

Orange gold with a thin head. Doughy citrus malts. Sweet caramel dough flavors with a touch of creamy oaty malts. 7/3/7/4/14

Pale yellow color with a rather large white head. Straw, light hop aroma. Pretty uninspiring.
