Tap at Victory. Big nonic pint. Huge creamy lace atop a deeper red body. Clear with lower carbonation. Jose has interesting floral and citrus hop complexity and heavy malt medley. Taste is sharp as hell, very bitter with tangy slickness and long almond flesh bitterness. Very raw and malt forward with long bitterness though the finish. Fruity, thick strawberry through the end with green tea herbalness. Oily palate. Very rich body, huge bitterness to balance. Fairly aggressive IPA vs the Mandarina which was subtle and complex.

Tap at pub, tried against the Bavarian Polaris, Bavarian Mandarina, and Headwaters Pale Ale. Lightly effervescent gold, thin fizzy white head dies quickly with little lace. Amazingly dry and earthy profile, pine hope leading the way for a heavy dose of honey-dough and flaky crust mid before splashing melon, grain, and grass accented by a dry, highly carbonated finish. Whenever Victory does anything associated with German brewing, I’m in!JAXSON (607) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 5, 2012
1) Bavarian Spalt
2) Headwaters Pale
3) Bavarian Mandarina
4) Bavarian Polaris
Had multiple times, once in a lineup next to the other Bavarian pale ales along with Hop Devil and Headwaters. Pour is clear copper with a fluffy white head. Nose is super bright, dry, focused on hops but with a touch of soft fruits and grain. Mouth is dry upfront, then grainy on the mid to back palate. Bright burst of hop in the mid palate that doesn’t linger around, totally dry finish with some super fresh grains. Fruit is very soft, maybe peach like. This beer is fantastic and is the best of the three Bavarians. Keep making this, dudes.
